One of the best parts of having a home theater is not having to settle for cola in a paper cup with your movie. Entertainment options are open whether it is a crowd of friends, your family, or just you and a date in front of your home theater. So mix up a few drinks and put out the appetizers. Appetizers are easy and can be easily tailored to the movie, but drinks are sometimes harder to pick out. There are a few simple ones that go for most occasions.

If the high definition at home seems a good enough reason to avoid winter snow, you will want something warm and comfortable to drink. It seems an old standard, but why not perk up the standard hot chocolate concoction and have a treat. Hot chocolate makes us feel like a kid again, so it is great for family gatherings, but do not count chocolate out for a more cozy date night. Gourmet hot cocoa is only limited by your imagination. Add some nutmeg and cinnamon to your cocoa and stir with a cinnamon stick for a warm nutty flavor. If you put a few a few rasberries in your food processor and liquify them, you can add them to your pot of cocoa. Top those cocoa glasses with some mint sprigs and a rasberry chocolate stirring stick from your local grocery store you have a gourmet cocoa that you cannot find outside of Aspen. My favorite thing is to grind up peppermint into my cocoa pot and top the cups with whipped cream and ground chocolate mints. A fresh sprig of mint as a garnish makes it just right for entertaining.

For when the weather is warmer, your blender will come in handy. Fresh fruit is widely available in the summer and we all should take advantage of that. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and all kinds of melon blend well into a drink. Put a few cups of ice into your blender and add a few handfuls of cherries to it. Pour on a bit of pomegranate juice and blend it up until it is smooth, and you will have the perfect chilled drink for the high definition beach flick that comes out every summer. Cut up some strawberries, kiwis, and one tangerine into your blender. Drop on a scoop of ice afterward as well as just a little sweetened condensed milk and a few drops of vanilla extract. Blend it until everything is the same color and all the ice is crushed. If you want to be really fun, drink it out of cups made from coconuts.
