Then an panic or anxiety collections during! The particular brilliant aspect for wintertime is that this allows us to conceal these weight pockets some simplier and easier within the coatings for clothes. Though not to feel concerned simply because you can actually begin right now to bring backside the bch body over time pertaining to summer!

A primary problem is a 1st 2 weeks simply because beginning rest a person’s terrible way of living eating habits and additionally adopt an important leaner and a lot more active workout package. Start within babe procedures and that means you stick fully commited. For example, for the to begin with few days, drink couple of litres involving mineral water. You shouldn’t generate each and every alterations. Be aware of the various positive aspects you may look. When you’ve acquired that will affordable at this moment look at what you eat. All of us “think” simply just over eating strong… nonetheless 9 because of 10 instances everyone ‘forgot’ all those high calorie appetizers we weren’t able to withstand near this “craving hours”… consequently let’s diary a lot of our nutrition in the up coming 3-4 days or weeks together with work out how various calories from fat we live the consumption of day by day in addition to what we should end up being taking reduce weight. It truly is information about considering meals together with snack food items earlier. Make one self a couple along with sort through on the internet to get yourself a navigation you happen to be satisfied with together with dinners which will fall season within your objectives. When that is certainly prepared make an effort to search ahead of time for the 1 week. The more often ready you can be, all the more unlikely you’ll end up falling gold coins in your merchandising units.

Right now the item concerns a person’s exercise session strategy. Your food package is going to make anyone slimmer along with your exercise program will almost certainly tone an incline shape. Each of those match additional. The most important thing gets (and additionally preserving) most people lively. Preferably I would like anyone to become weight training 4x 1 week @ 30-45 units periods. When that’s at your house, health and fitness center or simply place of work. It can be essential that you employ correct tactic as to not hazard injury. Together with ensure that you will be making use of muscles, not likely momemtum! You aren’t doing your physical structure a bit of good from putting all the loads about. Deal with inhaling and exhaling, appealing yourself physically and even executing that workout plans within a poor (check out secondly) speed. If you can join with a fitness instructor designed for 2-3 sessions, As i recommend it all.

Anyone starting out as a golfer will probably scour the Internet for golf lessons online. The information super highway is awash with free information and it can seem as if there is a golf guru around every corner but is it as easy as that? The short answer is no.

Free information whilst having the benefit of being free is usually a sales pitch of one kind or another and so the information given is naturally going to lead you by the nose to a conclusion that suits the seller rather than you the golfer. I would point out that there are some genuine people out there who will provide tips and advice for nothing but the caution here is "Do they really know what they are talking about?"

If you are serious about learning about golf then I would recommend purchasing a course of instruction and following it through thoroughly. The important word here is thoroughly. I have had so many people say "I bought such and such book and it didn’t work for me." When I question them more closely it usually turns out that, yes they bought the book, course DVD etc and watched or read it once, tried a couple of things and when it didn’t work straightaway they dismissed it out of hand.

Let’s be clear, there is no magic golf book, no golf guru or golf lesson that will transform you into a scratch player overnight. Tiger Woods still has a coach. The worlds foremost golfer still takes instruction. Why do you imagine that a few tips from the Internet will cure your slice, improve your putting or give you the longest drive in the world?

Any golf lesson online or from your golf pro will only, can only provide a framework on which to build. You have to meet it halfway which means you have to take the course or book and use it, practise it and keep practising it.

A quality golf course bought online will provide you with the information you need in a clear and most importantly consistent manner so that one aspect of the golf game follows another in a logical sequence. Golf professionals do not jump from one trainer to another and neither should you.

It really is worth finding a good golf lesson program and then practising what they teach you. If you can find a golf lesson series or course that suits the way you want to learn, and everybody is different then it can make a wonderful improvement to your enjoyment and your skill which is after all why we play the game ,isn’t it?

The golf ball has a long and proud history, the first games of golf were played in the 1500′s. Golf was then played using wooden sticks called clubs and round wooden balls.

The history of golf started in Scotland. The technology that we enjoy today was not available then, our golfing forefathers had to make use of the resources that were available to them. Wood was plentiful. A game of golf then was enjoyed with wooden clubs and balls. Club and ball were very heavy, the ball didn’t travel much further than 100 yards. The front nine holes on a golf course could last for some time.

The "featherie", a ball made from cowhide and goose feathers, was invented in the 1600′s. This first milestone in the history of golf ball was achieved by forming the golf ball through wet leather and feather. Wet cowhide and goose feathers were easy to shape and mold into golf balls, these where then painted and sold. The new golf ball was expensive, it did travel faster and farther after all. The wooden ball was now obsolete.

The stage was then set for the for the next stage in golf ball history. The creation of the Gutta Percha (the gutty ball). Made from the rubber like sap of the Sapodilla tree. Balls were shaped by heating the rubber like sap, it was discovered that these balls traveled further the more uneven they were. Indentations were then pounded into the balls with a hammer. The idea of dimpled golf balls was born. The game of golf was still an expensive sport, until a metal press was designed, that enabled the manufacturing of golf balls making them a great deal less expensive.

A golf ball then consisted of a hard solid core, surrounded by high – tension rubber the ball was completed by the Gutta Percha cover. The Gutta Percha ball worked well and was the standard pattern for many years.

The history of golf ball continued to evolve in design, advanced by the two – piece and three – piece balls. New materials like titanium, balata coverings and silicone many other components helped in making the golf ball an extremely efficient tool in the game. Advancement in golf balls makes it possible for a golfer to use spin on his shots.

The United States Golf Association put weight and size regulations into effect in the 1900′s.

The regulations are:
* The weight of a golf ball could not exceed the maximum of 1,629 ounces.
* The diameter of the golf ball could be no less than 1,680 ounces.
* The golf ball must be designed with properties of a spherically symmetrical ball.
* The maximum velocity level of a golf ball was 250 feet per second

So the next time you step onto your favorite course for a round of golf, remember the history of the golf ball.
The technological advancements are a amazing!

Your kids are getting to the age that they would like to start to play golf and you are wondering when to start a junior golf instruction program. Knowing when to start and how to find the right junior golf lessons for a child are crucial components to building an environment for your child to enjoy and succeed in the game of golf.

Begin by asking yourself, not your junior, some questions about what your motivation might be for getting their junior golf lessons. Four reasons that parents want junior golf lessons for their young child (under eleven) typically are the following:
Because of golf’s reputation for rules, fair play and self-policing, the parents have a genuine interest in seeing their children attempt to play the game.
A babysitting service, parents get a time out from their kids for a while.

Parents want to spend more time with their child and have decided that golf will be the vehicle to do this.
As so many do, parents feel that their children must be in as many activities as possible.

Whatever your reasons are for wanting your child to begin to play the game of golf, the important thing is to ensure the kids have fun and enjoy themselves. Golf is a great game that can teach your child many life skills and is a game they can play the rest of their life.

The most important thing to do is ask your child if playing golf is something that they would like to do. If the answer is no, do not push them to play. You do need to make sure that they understand the option is always open for them to play. It make take you asking multiple times and giving them the information they need to feel comfortable to begin playing the game.

Once your child decides that they do want to play golf here are some steps to take to get them started and to keep the game fun for them:
Begin with a real junior set of clubs. Many people think that by making a club shorter it will fit a junior golfer. This is NOT true. You need to find a company that specially and properly weights their junior golf clubs depending on the size of your child. In addition, you do not need to buy a whole set. Most companies will allow you to purchase junior clubs one at a time.

Find a qualified junior golf instructor. You can contact your local PGA Section or a local club or golf course either by phone or online. If a Certified PGA Professional is available in your area, he or she would be a good place to start.

Make sure that your series of junior golf lessons include sessions on the rules of golf as well as golf etiquette. Depending on their age, the rules and etiquette situations do not need to be deep in the heart of the rule book. It has always amazed me on what a child at any age can retain when they want to learn.

Your junior does not have to play a "real golf hole" to have fun. Make the putting green the goal. This is a good way for the younger junior golfers to get started and as it reads only count the shots that it takes to get to the green to determine a score.
The hole does not need to be the end of the hole. What does this mean? Some smaller juniors find it more fun to hit it into a bunker than onto a green.

This may seem counter-intuitive to many golf purists however, once you think about it, typically the bunkers are smaller than the putting greens. This can only make them better later. In addition, they LOVE to climb into the bunkers and this gives us a chance to teach bunker etiquette.

Many players struggle with their putter from short distance and are always looking for new putting tips. Most have trouble with putts from this distance due to a lack of putting tips on what the putter should be doing. In the long run, a lack of proper information, leads to a loss of confidence and more missed putts. Thus the downward spiral starts and many players think that they will never get out of it.

The good news is that you can get out of it by following the putting tips below. These putting tips are tried and true and have helped many take charge of their putting stroke and return to the great putter they once were. Here are three putting tips that you can make happen during any good golf swing:

1. Ball position
Where the ball is placed at address is very important to how the putt will roll once it is struck. Proper ball position to strike a good putt begins with the middle of the putter head in the center of your stance. As you take your address and look down at the top of your putter, the center of the head should be in the middle of your stance or some say in between your feet. Since the putter head is taking up the middle of your stance, this means that the golf bal is just ahead of the middle of your stance.

2. Weight placement
As you take your address to stroke a putt, you should have more weight on your leg closer to the hole. For right-handed golfers, this simply means that you will have more weight on your left foot or left leg. The question of how much will vary from player to player. With that being said, it will probably end up somewhere between 60-65% on your forward foot. Think about it. Any good golf shot that is struck has more weight on the forward foot than the back. The same is true with the putting stroke.

3. Finish Position
Once you have made your putting stroke, the grip of the putter should be past your front leg. Most amateurs get in trouble because they flip or pop at a putt and the grip or handle of the putter never gets past their leg. This means that they have more than likely hit the putt on the bottom of the club face. This is troubling, as controlling distance will be a big challenge for someone who putts with this putting method.

An easy way to monitor this is to count to three very slowly once you have reached the finish position. This will give you time to evaluate your finish and improve it quickly. To be a consistent putter, you must learn to make contact on the same spot on the putter face.

Quit looking all over the place for new putting tips. By implementing these three putting tips into your golf game, you will lose all fear of putting as you will be watching many of your putts go into the hole.

Baker took a big sigh of relief when he told the press this was a great way to begin a road trip. The Reds woke up 5:30 in the morning to catch a flight to Arizona and Baker didn’t know how well his club would respond to the jet lag. Get Cincinnati Reds tickets and see Willy Taveras in the lineup.

Cincinnati’s Adam Rosales contributed with a homer and two doubles. During the game, the Reds were able to set season highs in runs and hits (18). Taveras was the key player of the game. He was able to nail four singles around a four-inning double. But this wasn’t the first time the center fielder took center stage in a game. Taveras had a solid performance on April 25, 2007, at the New York Mets. He scored four runs and drove in two, which raised his batting average to .315. The center fielder extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Meanwhile, Bronson Arroyo (5-2) gave up five runs and 10 hits in seven innings, retiring five players.

Cincinnati put the pressure on Arizona starter Jon Garland (3-2) early in the game. They were able to score one run in the first, three in the third, and three in the fourth. The Diamondbacks were down 4-0 in the third inning when they tried to rally back. Justin Upton hit a two-run homer to cut the lead in half. Upton extended his hitting streak to 18 games. But the Reds responded quickly once Laynce Nix stepped up to the plate. He led off the fourth by hammering a home run deep in center field, estimated at 433 feet. Rosales also nailed one out of the park – this one went 424 feet to left-center field and put the Reds back in the lead by four.

Garland left the game after 3, 2-3 innings and gave up 7 runs and 10 hits during that span. The pitcher was disappointed with his performance, later saying his "sinker wasn’t sinking." The Diamondback lost three of their last four games under manager A.J. Hinch, who replaced Bob Melvin last week. Arizona did not have a great start, allowing Jerry Hairston Jr. to turn a single into a double without a throw. The fans had enough of Arizona’s poor play and started to boo in the sixth inning, when Joey Votto scored off Bobby Korecky and Brandon Philips darted from first to third because catcher Chris Snyder was busy looking for the ball. Infielder Josh Wilson pitched a scoreless ninth inning, becoming the fifth Arizona player to take the hill. Wilson also pitched one inning for Tampa Bay in 2007, which kept his ERA at 0.00.

The centre forward, number nine or big man is the forward that will lead the line against the opposition’s defence. Traditionally, the centre forward will battle against the centre back, imposing his physical presence to help his team. The main objective of the centre forward is to score the goals to win the game for his team.

Primary abilities of the player to fill the role of the centre forward include pace, strength and a powerful, accurate shot. A successful centre forward is expected to produce a return of at least a goal every other game, although England international Emile Heskey acts as an exception to this rule.

In the modern game, there will often be a centre forward playing alongside a more prolific striker. This tactic has been used by teams in the past deploying a big target man to play with a smaller, quicker striker. The partnership of Heskey and Owen or Crouch and Defoe shows this tactic perfectly.

The best centre forwards will possess the skills of both the target man and the striker to create and score goals for fun. Every country has their favourite centre forward and they evoke many emotions with their goals and commitment, making them heroes to their fans and villains to their opponents.

One of the best centre forwards ever to play soccer is the England and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer. To English soccer fans, Alan Shearer is the perfect number nine. Strong, powerful, quick and a natural goalscorer – Shearer was unbeatable in his prime.

Shearer enjoyed his most prolific period in the mid 1990s, leading Blackburn Rovers to the FA Premier League title and England to the semi-finals of Euro ’96. Shearer was top scorer in the tournament, scoring against Switzerland, Scotland, two goals against Netherlands and a header against Germany.

Shearer’s goals record speaks for itself, 30 goals in 63 internationals and 283 goals in 559 professional appearances all at the top-level is hard to beat. He would often score spectacular volleys, while also being deadly in and around the penalty area with either foot or his head.

Argentina’s Alan Shearer was a man named Gabriel Batistuta. Imaginatively nicknamed, Batigol was as prolific a striker as Argentina is ever likely to see. He scored an amazing 56 goals in his 78 international appearances and helped the team to two Copa America titles, although the team underachieved in its World Cup performances.

Batistuta has played for teams in Argentina, Italy and Qatar. His most successful seasons were played for Fiorentina and Roma where he scored 198 goals in 332 games. His goals helped Roma to the Serie A title, and both Italian clubs to Italian Supercup wins. Batistuta possessed pace and power and had an unstoppable shot that would lead his country and club to many victory.

The best centre forward of the last thirty years, and maybe the history of soccer, is the Brazilian sensation Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima. Ronaldo, the real one, is still only 32 years old but looks set to retire with one of the most prolific goalscoring records of any centre forward.

Ronaldo announced his arrival at the age of 17 with 34 goals in 32 games for club side Cruzeiro. He made his international debut at just 17 and at that age was a part of the 1994 World Cup winning squad, although he did not play. Ronaldo sealed a 6 million dollar move to the Netherlands, playing 57 games and scoring 55 goals.

His performances allowed him an even bigger move to Spanish giants Barcelona. From here, Ronaldo would move to Inter Milan, Real Madrid and then finished his career at AC Milan. His best years were often blighted by serious injuries but he still managed to win three FIFA World Player of the Year Awards.

Ronaldo would achieve honours to rival most players including two La Liga titles, one UEFA Cup, one Cup Winners’ Cup and two World Cup wins. Injury ruled him out of the 2007-08 season for Milan and they released him from his contract. He is currently looking for another club, and at 32, would surely offer so much to any top-flight club.

A great centre forward can create goals from nothing, or make wingers look even better by finishing the chances that they create. A great number nine will be the fans’ favourite as they score the goals to send the crowd into raptures. All three of these forwards enjoy hero status because of this simple but amazing ability.

Golf fitness training and golf exercises are governed by certain training principles. One of these principles is the principle of cross-specificity training. The concept of cross-specificity training is not a new principle in the field of strength and conditioning, rather it is a principle that has been applicable in strength training within sports for many years. As the acceleration of strength training, conditioning, and golf fitness occurs within sport of golf, it is necessary to revisit this principle and the application of it to the golf swing.

Cross-specificity training is a reference to the similarities between a training program or exercises and the athletes chosen sport, which in this case is golf. Cross-specificity training can be defined as training the athlete to the anatomical positions, biomechanical movements, and physical requirements of the sport. The goal of cross-specificity training is to impart a transfer of training effect. A transfer of training effect is the degree to which a conditioning program directly affects performance of the athlete during competition.

Understanding the basic definition of cross-specificity training we can begin to dissect the requirements of a conditioning program in the adherence to this principle relative to the sport of golf. The first step in this process is a biomechanical analysis of the golf swing. The golf swing in general requires the kinetic chain to execute a series of biomechanics movements in a specific order and with timing. If the order or timing of these movements is altered the execution of the golf swing will be adversely affected.

The adverse affects relative to the execution of the golf swing are commonly referred to as compensations. These compensations lead to a direct effect on the distance, direction, and flight of the golf ball. As a result, it is of great importance for the golfer to execute the biomechanics of the golf swing effectively and efficiently.

In order to execute the biomechanics of the golf swing efficiently and effectively one must keep in mind the physical component attached to this formula. This physical component is your kinetic chain. The kinetic chain compromised of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous system of the body supports the execution of the golf swing. In the most basic of terms, it is the golfers body executing the biomechanics of the golf swing, and if certain physical parameters are not present within the kinetic chain, the golf swing will be negatively affected.

To ensure the golfer has the ability to perform the biomechanics of the golf swing correctly, it is necessary to develop specified physical parameters within the kinetic chain. Certain levels of mobility, flexibility, stability, balance, strength, endurance, and power are needed in order to achieve a biomechanically proficient golf swing.

Now that we have a basic understanding of the biomechanics associated with the golf swing and the physical requirements to support these biomechanics, we can begin to develop a cross-specific training program for golf. Referring back to our definition of cross-specificity training, the requirements of such a program are developing the kinetic chain to the anatomical positions, biomechanical movement patterns, and physical requirements of the golf swing.

Empirical evidence suggests the application of cross-specificity training for golf commence with developing the physical parameters within the kinetic chain, and then proceed to developing movement patterns within the anatomical positions of the swing. Basically, it necessary to develop the physical foundation(mobility, stability, power) required of the golf swing before the introduction of modalities requiring the golfer to perform exercises in the anatomical positions utilizing movement patterns associated with the swing.

The simple way to look at this concept is move from general to specific. Develop fundamental levels of mobility, flexibility, stability, strength, endurance, and power prior to moving towards advance training techniques requiring a physical base of flexibility, strength, and power.

The first step in this process of developing a physical base for the golf swing is an understanding of the basic mobility/stability pattern of human movement. This concept was first noted by physical therapist Gray Cook and strength coach Mike Boyle. This principle states efficient movement within the kinetic chain of the human body occurs in an alternating pattern of mobile joints and stable segments. If this pattern of mobile joints and stable segments is altered, dysfunction in movement patterns will occur, and compensations in these movement patterns will be the result. The table below provides a joint-by-joint view of this pattern with the human body.

Mobility/Stability Pattern of Human Movement Table:
Foot-Stabile,Ankle-Mobile,Knee-Stable,Hip-Mobile, Pelvis/Sacral/LumbarSpine-Stable,Thoracic Spine-Mobile,Scapula-Thoracic-Stable,Gleno-Humeral-Mobile,Elbow-Stable,Wrist-Moble,Cervical Spine-Stable

As you can see from the above table efficient human movement occurs within this a feet to fingertips alternating pattern of a mobile joint followed by a stabile joint throughout the entire kinetic chain. It is obvious joints such as the elbow and knee are not rod like pieces of iron that do not flex or extend, but rather these joints are stabile in terms of limited degrees of motion.

Relative to the golf swing the mobility/stability pattern of human movement allows for the execution of a biomechanically efficient golf swing, resulting in the creation and transfer of energy through the kinetic chain. If the mobility/stability pattern is dysfunctional relative to the golf swing, the execution of the swing will be hampered, development of speed will be limited, and the transfer of speed to the golf ball will be compromised.

Once we understand the mobility/stability pattern of human movement the process of developing a cross-specific training program for golf can begin. The first step is assessment of the golfers current levels of mobility and stability. This process is completed through a series of physical screens. Once this information has been gathered we can then begin the development of the strength and conditioning program to address the mobility and stability needs of the golfer.

The second step is the development of a strength and conditioning program to clear any mobility restrictions and stability deficiencies within the kinetic chain. This step may require the assistance of a medical professional, but at the very least it necessary to implement a program addressing these needs of the golfer first.

A mobility and stability program will address the deficiencies of the golfer in a systematic format. A systematic format allows the strength coach to progress the golfer when ready and measure results. In addition such a program will allow for the introduction of more cross-specific exercises for golf to be implemented once the client is ready.

To summarize, golf fitness training should adhere to the principle of cross-specificity. Cross-specificity training for golf will train the athlete to the anatomical positions, biomechanical movements, and physical requirements of the sport. It is extremely important for any golf fitness training, golf exercises, or golf fitness programs to adhere to this principle. Certain steps can be taken to be certain the golf fitness program or exercise is in line with this principle. The first step in this process is assessing the golfers current levels of mobility and stability. The second step is the introduction of a strength and conditioning program to clear any mobility restrictions and stability deficiencies. Once this step is completed, the strength coach can then begin the introduction of more cross-specific training modalities into the golfers program.

The 2009 offseason is proving to be a tough one for the Indianapolis Colts. First, longtime and beloved coach Tony Dungy announced that he would not be returning, and he was replaced by Jim Caldwell. Other coaching changes followed, signaling the end of an era for the Colts. It looks like that shakeup could be extending to the roster as well. The Colts longtime wide receiver, Marvin Harrison, has asked for a release from the Colts after contract talks hit the skids.

Harrison’s chemistry with quarterback Peyton Manning has been the shining example of what most teams strive for in those two positions. Also contemplating a move is center Jeff Saturday, who will enter free agency after his contract talks also stalled. Fans can make sure to be there to cheer on next season’s team with Indianapolis Colts tickets.

Harrison was a four-year letter winner at Syracuse before joining the NFL. Harrison was picked up by the Colts in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft. During his first season, he started all but one game, finishing with 838 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the team as a rookie. He has similar stats during the 1997 season. In 1998, he started 12 consecutive games, but then was placed on injured reserve because of a separated shoulder for the last few games of the season.

He was back in full force during the 1999 season, starting every game and tallying 1,663 yards and 12 touchdowns. That year started a four-year streak of starting every regular season game for Harrison. During the 2006 season when the Colts won the Super Bowl, Harrison finished the regular season with 1,366 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2007, he was out for most of the season with a knee injury. Last season, Harrison started and played in 15 regular season games for 636 yards and five touchdowns. Harrison has been selected to eight consecutive Pro Bowls during his career as well.

Saturday has one of those great NFL stories that shows the top prospects in the NFL Draft aren’t always the diamonds in the rough. Saturday went undrafted when he left North Carolina in 1998. The Colts picked him up as a free agent in 1999. That first year, he started only two out of the 11 games he played in. Since then, however, he has started every single regular season game except for 14 out of 16 in 2004 and 12 out of 16 in 2008. During the 2004 season, he had a calf injury that kept him out of two games, and last season he suffered another calf injury that kept him out of four games. He has been named to the Pro Bowl three times.

The only bright spot if the Colts are forced to part ways with Harrison and Saturday for good is the room it leaves in the salary cap. Saturday still hasn’t ruled out a new contract with the Colts as he enters free agency and reportedly has an offer from the Colts. By releasing Harrison, the Colts free up $13.4 million in their salary cap.

There are several aspects to playing golf. On the highest level, there is yourself and there is your apparatus. There is just one thing that you are able to do about yourself and that is improve it by correct thought and practice. However, it is very much simpler to change your apparatus.

Needless to say, you ought to purchase the best apparatus that suits you. This means purchasing your golf equipment from an expert who can see what you need. When you have the best equipment – golf clubs and balls – that you are able to afford, you have to learn how to use them.

Learning how to use your golf equipment well involves practice, but also understanding which shot each club is best for. This is arguably more important than buying the best clubs that you can afford, because even if you have the best clubs in the world, using a putter if you ought to be using an iron will be most detrimental to your game.

This knowledge comes with experience, naturally and you can substitute for knowledge by getting in a decent caddy, but really, you ought to know for yourself too. This means coming second in hundreds of games against an opponent, but you do not learn much by playing someone less able than yourself.

This is where enthusiasm or love of the game comes in. You have to be able to put up with losing often in the early days and this is very difficult for a competitive person. Enthusiasm and determination will carry you through this early learning period, although hopefully you will learn something new from every game you play all your life.

Here follows a bit of broad common sense about choosing the correct club for the beginner.

The beginner golfer is almost never skilled, obviously, so hitting the ball too far is rarely a problem. Getting around corners or obstacles is also beyond the capacity of the novice, therefore distance is the priority and that means using the heaviest golf clubs until you get within easy distance of the green.

Once you are within 50 yards of the green, you can make some attempt at choosing the right club for the shot. When on the green, it is fairly common knowledge to use a putter. If you drop into a sand bunker on the way to the green, the sand wedge appears the obvious choice. The name is the give-away here.

If you are playing with good people, not good golfers, they will normally be all to happy to help you choose the correct club, until you begin winning. If they won’t help you, play with someone else. After all, golf is a game and it is supposed to be enjoyed.

You will soon learn the basics of what works best for you and you will spend the remainder of your life refining the knowledge you learned in the first couple of months of becoming addicted to the wonderful game of golf.

–
Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on many topics, but is currently concerned with playing golf enthusiastically.

Golfing is a hands-on game. You cannot learn how to play well by studying a video or playing a Nintendo game. You can watch all the pro golf games on TV you like, but are you able to you remember how Tiger Woods did it when the ball is in front of you and the club is in your hands?

People make millions out of golfing videos, golf tutorials and golfing games, but few people have ever learned anything from them. You will learn a lot more by spending an hour with the club golf pro.

If you truly want a video to watch at home, why not create your own when you are spending an hour with the golf pro? Take a youngster with you to film your lesson on a video recorder.

The first suggestion for novices is to keep your eyes on the ball. This may sound self-evident, but if you watch novices taking a shot, you will frequently see that they look away too early. This can result in a sliced stroke or even a miss. If you keep your eyes on the ball, you will not lose it either.

When putting, stand squarely over the ball. The ball should be midway between your feet and your head should be directly over the ball. This also permits you to have a decent line of vision to the hole. The stroke should be smooth, with a graceful follow through.

Keeping the ball on the fairway is a problem for most novice golfers. It seems all to easy to slice the ball into the rough. This has to do with your stance. A sliced ball is one that has been hit on its side, like putting side on a snooker ball to make it spin in that direction.

If you put side on a golf ball, it will spin in that direction and veer off in that direction as well. The solution to this difficulty, is to always hit the ball squarely will the centre of the blade of the club, unless you would like it to curve in mid flight. That is for advanced players though. Beginners ought to concentrate on learning how to hit the ball straight.

Hooking the ball is another difficulty altogether although the affect is comparable – that is that the ball goes off to the side. Hooking the ball has to do with swing and posture. It is normally the result of not driving the ball straight ahead of you, but slinging it to the opposite side of your dominant arm. That is, right-handed golfers will hook the ball to the left.

To correct this, practice hitting the ball just a couple of yards into an upright bucket or a dog’s basket. Every day you ought to move the basket back a couple of feet until you can confidently chip almost every ball into the basket. Then go for power and try to hit the ball from the tee onto the green.

If you wish to greatly enhance your game, you can enroll to golf courses so that you can do so. This is an effective approach to be able to push your game onto the next level. You can enroll via the golf course club where you at the moment play. You will find trainers there who’d agree to go via an one-on-one session with you. You would even be given the chance to arrange for the most favorable schedule for you so which you can commit to the program as often as you possibly can.

If you’re not quite sure whom to get, you can try asking from between your golf mates. They might have someone in mind that they can refer to you. At least one of them would have undoubtedly been trying to also elevate their game or have resorted to professional help in relation to entering into the golf course. It is good to get a referral as at least you would already have a good idea about the golf courses you can choose from. You can also have a better idea of how much budget it will take you to enroll in one.

Getting a trainer is easy but you need to also evaluate the credentials of the person. Do this so which you can actually be comfortable utilizing the person as you take on your golf courses. You can ask for a scheduled appointment with your trainer so that it’d be a lot easier for you to assess them. You can do the appointment right at the office of the trainer if he has one. If they’ve a web site, take the time to look at what’s posted in there. This would give you a better idea about what the person is like and if he’s a credible resource of golf information.

Golf courses are better taught in an one-on-one fashion because you can definitely get a personalized training. This way whatever you do gets monitored and corrected consequently. On best of it all, you get to practice your swing and make sure you adjust it well depending on the place where the ball has landed. You also learn some good golf strategies straight from the consultants. You can also receive feedback then and there so that you don’t get used to bad habits as playing golf. If you wish to know more about choosing golf courses, you can take a look at our web-site.

Ebay is probably the largest auction site on planet earth and as such is the number one place to buy and sell anything (almost).
I have bought and sold many items on Ebay and apart from one seller who was tardy in dispatching the goods, a set of golf clubs as it happens, I have never had a problem. The seller was waiting for his new clubs to arrive before he sent mine. A short e-mail hurried him up and the clubs duly arrived as described and everyone was happy.

This guide is written for golfers mainly but most of the rules apply to anything you buy online. Ebay is a fantastic place to buy golf clubs and as with most things a little common sense goes a long way. So to get started;

1) If something sounds to good to be true it probably is. Even on Ebay it is very unlikely you will buy a new set of Ping irons for $50. Fake or counterfeit clubs do exist and people do sell them on Ebay. This is through a desire to cheat or in some cases through simple ignorance. Someone who has bought a set of fake clubs may not know and when they do not perform as well as the buyer had hoped he may well sell them on, listing them as genuine because he thinks they are. Read the description, this is vital, many fake clubs are listed as ‘look alike’,'clone’ or ‘copy’. These are not genuine clubs, they won’t perform like genuine clubs and you will not be a happy bunny.

2) Read the sellers feedback. Feedback is there for you to study, do not click on ‘read feedback’, scan a couple of lines and decide all is well. Really look at what others have said about their experiences with the seller in question. Also you can check to see what other items the buyer has bought so this gives you an idea of whether the buyer is knowledgeable about the Ebay environment. If they have bought several pieces of golf equipment then they probably know a good deal from a bad one.

3) Still on the feedback page check to see if the comments are from buyers and sellers. Feedback manipulation can happen where a seller will buy a lot of cheap items to quickly raise their own feedback score. If the sellers feedback is mostly from other sellers be wary. Feedback from buyers is a whole lot more telling. To Ebays credit they do have systems in place to combat feedback manipulation but it is still wise to check yourself.

4) Does the seller have a ebaystore? This is an indication that they take their Ebay business seriously. A seller with a store will have a little door symbol by their name and will probably mention it at least once in the copy of their auction page. The problem with only dealing with store owners is that you can miss some of the best deals. Many golfers, like myself, will list the odd item so not have a huge feedback score. The opportunity here is that they don’t have business overheads to cover they just want to clear some space so their prices can be much lower and that is where you can get some brilliant deals.

5) Ask the seller questions. There is a link for asking the seller a question and the genuine person will respond to a query. You can ask anything about the item they are selling so if you want more information, just ask. A side note here; A common query from golfers is ‘What are the serial numbers on the clubs’.A reasonable question and one that should elicit an answer, however if the seller says he can’t/ won’t tell you because ‘ you might be a counterfeiter’ ,steer clear.Any counterfeit can go into any golf store and collect serial numbers with ease, an answer like this suggests the seller may be less than honest himself.

6) Check the photographs that accompany the auction. If it is a stock photo feel entitled to ask for a photo, or preferably two or three, of the actual item that is being sold. Again genuine sellers should not mind this although if he is busy it may take a little time.

7)Last but not least and actually the most important, pay by Paypal. The majority of sellers accept this form of payment and it does give you some protection. Some sellers would say it gives the buyers too much protection because believe it or not there are some very dodgy buyers out there who will claim for undelivered goods when they have in fact received them. A lot of problems reported in the media about fraudsters and people not getting what they have paid for have at the foundation a buyer who did not follow these simple rules and then paid cash or by money transfer. Don’t do it!

I have and still do buy a fair amount of my golf equipment from Ebay especially golf wedges which are my passion. If I don’t like it when it arrives I simply relist it and some times I even make a profit. I hope you can feel a little safer feeding your passion on Ebay.

Whether you are a beginner and only carry a few golf clubs or a low handicapper and carry a full set plus, a stand bag is a valuable piece of golf equipment to any walker. Not only is a stand bag much lighter than a cart bag, but it also has ample pockets to carry all other golf equipment that you may need such as golf balls, golf tees and even a rain suit. If you do only carry a few clubs, you may want to look into a Sunday bag. This bag is as plain as they come and will typically have one pocket that can hold a few tees and extra balls.

Depending on which model fits your needs, you can purchase a golf stand bag that has pockets inside of pockets. Space to carry anything that you need is available. Many stand bags include an insulated water bottle pocket built right into the bag. These pockets will typically fit a regular water bottle or gatorade sized bottle and can help keep it cold on those hot summer days. If you purchase a stand bag with a water bottle pocket you will want to make sure that it does have a place for the condensation to leave the bag. If it is allowed to accumulate, the excess water can damage your golf bag and be just plain nasty.

With all of the available features that are available on a stand golf bag today, you will definitely want to take your time and create a needs list as well as a wants list. Obviously the bag must look good to you. However it is even more important that the golf carry bag is comfortable to carry. Most stand bags come with a dual strap that will disburse the weight of the golf bag and your equipment evenly across your shoulders. In turn this will create less stress on your back.

A stand golf bag can also vary quite a bit in its overall weight. Of course, some of the weight will depend on the amount of features that the light weight stand bag has to offer. The overall weight of the golf bag will also depend heavily on how much extra equipment that you are going to carry with you reach round. For example, you will be adding a lot of unnecessary weight if you take your rain suit with you on a sunny day.

A stand golf bag can also become a personalized golf bag. You can have your favorite logo silk screened or embroidered onto almost any carry bag. You can further personalize the bag with your favorite colors, the colors of your company logo or the colors of your favorite college team. A collegiate golf bag is a very popular choice as you can carry your schools logo and have your name on the bag. To quote the SNL Billy Crystal character, "it is much better to look good than to feel good." However with a personalized stand bag, you can look good and feel good.

The NFL opening game is only two months away, but if you are an avid fan, no doubt you are chomping at the bit. Training camp is but a few weeks away. How will the Indianapolis Colts do this year? Let’s take a look at the key areas for the Colts.

Offense

One of the best offenses in the league will no doubt excel once again. Peyton Manning will no doubt get his share of yards and touchdown passes. While the offense did lose running back Dominic Rhodes, the remainder of the offensive nucleus is back and ready. Manning is the key to this offense and a healthy Manning means more victories.

The running game is also strong. While they may be not as effective as last year due to the previously mentioned departure of Rhodes, the running back area will still do well.

The passing game is a sight to behold. Manning is confident that his receivers will be in the right spot at the right time and they typically are. Despite one of the best set of receivers in the league, the Colts reloaded and used their first round choice on a receiver with the hope that their passing game will rank as the best in the league for years to come.
All this talent would not be any good without a good offensive line. Here again, the Colts are well equipped. Pro Bowl left tackle Tarik Glenn is effective as a run blocker and pass protector giving Manning confidence his backside is well protected. The other positions are well stocked and the Colts used their 2nd round draft choice to pick up another solid lineman.

Defense

The defense has always been overshadowed by the offense. In 2006, the Colts defense ranked 12 out of 16. Not what most people would consider a Super Bowl worthy defense. It just highlights how dominant the offense is. At some point though, the Colts need to address defense. With the Patriots looking to improve and get back to the Super Bowl, the Colts cannot rely on just offense.

The defensive did not do that well in 2006. The Colts gave up a league worst, YES, league worst 173 yards per game at a clip of 5.3 yards per rushing attempt. Too often the front line was too focused on rushing the passer which opened up the rushing lanes for huge gains. This will need to stop. Opponent coaches should take note of this and control the game. By controlling the game, maybe, they can keep Manning off the field.

The linebacking corps continues to be a point of frustration for fans. For the 4th time in 5 years, a starting linebacker left the team via free agency. That is just too much turnover and no doubt added to the woeful running defense.

The secondary is also in shambles. Jason David and Nick Harper sought the free agent big bucks and left the team. Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Hayden are expected to replace David and Harper but between the two of them they have only started two games over the last two years. Not exactly a comforting thought, especially for a defense that was prone to giving up big, big plays a few years ago.

My Prediction

The bottom line is that seven players who started a combined 273 games in 2006 are no longer with the team. That is a major hit to any team. With stiff competition in the AFC, the Colts will be hard pressed to repeat last years performance. As with every Super Bowl winner, every team that plays them wants to knock them off. It will be no different for the Colts. Each lower echelon team the Colts play will treat that game like their Super Bowl. Consequently, the Colts will have a good year, but distractions, free agency and a porous defense will be too much to overcome making the Colts a one year wonder.

Lincoln Financial Field is the home turf for a football dynasty and for the fans that hold Philadelphia Eagles tickets. There are over 64,000 seats at this special stadium and during the height of football mania fans are packed in shoulder to shoulder cheering their heroes to victory.

Last year the Eagles once again claimed their Division title and came within inches of a Super Bowl bid. The team has been NFL Eastern champs almost every year since 2000 and 2009 may be the year they spread their wings and fly. Already the demand is on pace to exceed ticket availability as fans anticipate an exceptional season.

Big Birds Walked Before they Learned to Fly

The history of the Eagles dates back to 1931 when the Frankford Yellow Jackets folded halfway into the season. This team was part of the NFL and after more than a year, the franchise was handed out for $2,500. The Eagles and the Yellow Jackets were never really considered to be the same team; however, almost no one from the earlier team was signed by the new franchise. The first outing was against the Giants of NY and the Eagles were properly trounced by a score of 56-0.

The players who were on the roster during these early years were mostly former college students who only stayed for a few years. The Eagle’s general manager, in 1935, proposed a yearly draft of college players to enable all of the NFL teams to be more competitive. Thus began the tradition of the team at the bottom getting to choose the first draft pick.

The remainder of the 1930′s did not hold a lot of sparkle for the team and there were probably more than a few Philadelphia Eagles tickets that were used as bribes to attract an audience. Things began to turn around in the 1940′s and the football players began to show that they really could deliver the goods when called upon. In 1943, the team merged with the Steelers because of WW II and the decreased rosters. This created the "Steagles" and Philadelphia claimed their 1st winning season after years of attempts. This arrangement only lasted for one season but in 1944, the Eagles won again in their own right and forged a championship run.

The team was anchored by Coach Greasy Neale and a spectacular new draft pick, Steve Van Buren. For the Eagles, it was a bumpy ride through the 1950′s but 1960 became a golden season that is still revered. The team won their 1st division title since 1944 and in doing so, presented Coach Vince Lombardi with his one and only championship defeat.

The presence and dynamic growth of the team began to flourish under the leadership of the combined talents of coach Andy Reid and quarterback McNabb. The years since 2000 have been dominated almost exclusively by the soaring Eagles.

Checking Out the Stats

A look at the records for Philadelphia is proof of how successfully they have transformed their team into a respected contender.

- League Champions – 48, 49 and 60
- Conference Champions- 60, 80 and 03
- Division Champs- 47, 48, 49, 60, 78, 79, 80, 88, 01, 02, 03, 04, 06, 08
- 19 Playoff Appearances

Perfecting the Blueprint

The title of "Super Bowl Champs" has a nice ring to it, but the Philadelphia Eagles realize that they have some work ahead if they want to make a serious run for the gold ring. Philadelphia Eagles tickets are being snapped up quickly as fans eagerly wait for a new kick off day. The free agents and draft will definitely prove to be very helpful as the team digs in and uses this off-season time to put it all together and find a way to make it work. They have a couple of months to make their February free agent selections, and a healthy supply of 10 draft picks will definitely come in handy during April.

With QBs like McNabb, Kolb, and Feeley, the Eagles have plenty of skill and talent locked up for this all-important position and will probably look to add some playmakers and depth. There are plenty of returning players like Clemons, Darren Howard, Juqua Parker, Jackson, and Abiamiri, but fans are still anxious to see who Philadelphia is considering to add on to their roster. The early word making the rounds is that the team will be looking at players to move into tackle spots. Thomas and Runyan will become free agents and their return is highly suspect, especially with Runyan’s recent surgery. Both players have been loyal and dependable team members for Philadelphia but situations and circumstances change and hard decisions are getting ready to be made. None of this undecided business is hampering the sale of Philadelphia Eagles tickets though, and the 2009 season is on track to be another sell out.

You’ll see what the first whiskey still in the region looked like, what the early style televisions looked like as well as the first radios. Tours are available to assist you throughout the museum.

Your family can also do a little bit of souvenir shopping. There are lots of shops that they can take a look at close to the hotels as well as in the museums. There’s always something fun to visit and something unique to buy at the various souvenir stores. There are also some interesting souvenirs at the Falcon Ridge golf course club house.

Are you aware that you can find 9 National Parks within a day’s drive in Mesquite, Nevada? You are able to go watch sky divers dive in the air, go bumper car riding, have fun bowling, and go to the arcade. There’s simply lots of things to do around Mesquite.

If you’re able to pry Dad from the Falcon Ridge golf course, you could take sky diving lessons as a family. You can go to the Valley of Fire state park, and you’ll need to allow hours of recreation and adventure on this trip.

As more and more people are becoming more aware of their health, they are beginning to set up home gyms and are looking for home gym equipment. Many are using the extra bedroom or even the garage to set up their home gym.

In the past many people worried about the amount of space that all of the home gym equipment would take up in the house. That is just simply not the case any longer. The home gym equipment that is available is easy to store and even travel with if needed.

Here is a list of the more popular pieces of fitness equipment that many are using in their home gyms today and improving their flexibility and strength. This is allowing them to play more golf and better golf than they ever have before.

Home Gym Equipment – Weighted Golf Club
A weighted practice club will help you build strength as well as flexibility. Be sure to purchase a weighted golf club that is weighted in proportion to a real golf club and not just a donut on the end of a shaft. With a practice club that is properly weighted you can take VERY slow swings and build muscle. In addition as you take regular golf swings the extra weight will stretch you out and improve your range of motion. Strength and range of motion are both very important to hitting the ball farther.

Home Gym Equipment – Exercise Ball
This piece of fitness equipment goes by many different names such as: Core Balance Ball, Flexibility Ball and Swiss Ball just to name a few. This is a must have piece of fitness equipment for anyone due to the many uses it can have. Obviously in golf, the core is very important. Doing many exercises on the exercise ball will increase the difficulty and make you use your core. In turn, your core becomes stronger.

Home Gym Equipment – Resistance Cords or Resistance Bands
Resistance cords or resistance bands can give you a great workout. I know it does not look like it but it is funny that every time that I am done with them, I have had a great workout. A great feature of resistance cords is that you can work every single part of your body with them. Also, they are very easy to store at home out of the way if you use a main room to workout. Resistance cords are so small that you can easily pack them for any trip and never have an excuse of I do not have a gym!

Home Gym Equipment – Yoga Mat
You may not choose to do yoga as part of your fitness routine but a yoga mat is still nice to have when you workout. A yoga mat can provide cushioning and comfort for your workouts which can reduce the possibility of injury. In addition, a yoga mat will roll up easily for convenient storage.

Home Gym Equipment – Balance Disks
Adding balance disks to your current workout routine can tone and strengthen core muscles, help posture, improve balance and joint stabilization. You can even use the balance disks by themselves and attempt to make your golf swing with them while staying in balance. Even by making movements in slow motion, the balance disks can help you build your strength which will lead to increased distance and accuracy.

By implementing this equipment into your home gym you will be able to increase your strength and flexibility which in turn will better your golf game. In addition, all of these pieces store very easily and will not take up very much room in your house.

The natural way to get the open face at the top was with a late wrist break.

The break never should be started before the hands were waist high. In fact, many taught that you should pay no attention whatever to breaking the wrists; they would break by themselves.

If you use this technique you should find your swing improve dramatically.

At this point the club will have come back slightly inside the projected line of flight but the club face will not have opened. The face will be at about a 45-degree angle with the ground and, as you stand there, you will not be able to see any of it.

To be certain you are making the break correctly there is a perfect check point at this stage. If you look at your hands you will see, if the break is right, one knuckle of your left hand and the first two knuckles of the right. The left hand will be broken in, at an angle with the wrist If the break is completed here, without letting the hands move away from their address position, the club will have been brought back and up until it is almost parallel with the ground.

How near it approaches the parallel depends on how supple your wrists happen to be. Following our description of how the break is made, try it ten times. If you don’t soon get the feel of it, try it twenty or fifty times. But do it until you get the feel, checking yourself each time with the left-hand and right-hand knuckles and the angle of the face of the club.

This is a key move the foundation of the swing and you must do it right, get the feel of doing it right, and do it so much that it becomes automatic. It is easy to practice, requiring very little room, and can be worked on indoors or out, winter as well as summer.

Get it, and get it right.

We have not put this into the actual swing yet, remember. We are still working on the mechanics of the wrist break. It is just possible that at this fundamental stage you will refuse to believe that you can hit the ball with such a break. So make this test:

Go to the practice tee, or to a range or an indoor net. Address the ball. Make the backward break and do nothing else.

Don’t shift your weight, move your hips, or turn your shoulders. Just make the backward break. Hold it a couple of seconds. Now simply turn your shoulders, letting the shoulders swing your arms and the club up to the top, and then go right on through with the swing and hit the ball.

You will be amazed at what happens after you try this a few times. You will find, if you keep the wrist position, that you not only hit the ball, but that you hit it solidly, hit it straight, and hit it a surprising distance.

You will also discover that the more you permit the turning shoulders to swing the club up, the better you will hit the ball and the farther you will hit it. Make no effort to swings the. Arms just let the: shoulders move them and the club. The more the arms are swung independently of the shoulders, the less likely you are to reach a good position at the top.

So picture the shoulders as the motivating force, the "motor." The closer you bring this motivating force to the axis of the swing (the spinal column) the better the swing will be.

This two-piece action is invaluable for practicing the immediate break, for getting the feel of the break, for checking whether you have done it correctly or not, and for proving to yourself its value and the value of the hand-and-wrist position. In fact, you can use it in actual play. We have pupils who do.

Into the Swing The next step is to incorporate the early wrist break into the swing itself, making it a single uninterrupted motion. For this we must start with what has come to be known as the forward press, for it is with this that the backswing begins.

The forward press is simply a device that gets us from the passive into the active stage smoothly, without a jerk. Standing in a stationary position, even for a few seconds, is tiring. Ask any service man who has stood at attention for any extended period. We don’t pass easily from a stationary position into a big move. The trick in golf is to go from the stationary position of address to the big movement of the backswing without a jerky effort.

The forward press provides this transition. It is the little move that leads into the big one.

It can be done in several ways, with the right knee, with the hips, with the hands, with a turn of the hips. We want a lateral movement of the hips, no turn. It is a slight pushing of the hips to the left, laterally, about an inch or two. This press is in the opposite direction from the big move. But as the hips come back from their little pushing motion, they keep right on sliding and go into a lateral turning motion to the right the beginning of the backswing and we are off. This makes for the smoothest transition of all.

As the hips move to the left in the press, they pull the hands with them, just slightly, only a, fraction of an inch. When the hips come back, the hands come back-Now, as the hips and hands come back from the press, push the heel of the right hand down firmly but not sharply on the left thumb. The back of the left hand starts to turn under and the all important backward wrist break has begun.

This move should not be a sharp or a violent action. It should be firm and steady. And it feels much quicker than it looks or actually is.

The hands meanwhile are moving to the right as the wrists are cocking, and the hips are sliding into a lateral turn, taking the weight with them.

Before you realize it, your hands will be waist high. And at that joint the wrist break should be completed!

Right here is the first check point. Stop the swing and look at your hands. If the wrist break has been performed correctly you will see at this point just the reverse of what you saw at the address:

You should see only one knuckle of the left hand, but two knuckles of the, right hand, those at the bases of the index and middle fingers.

You should not be able to see any of the face of the club, either. The face should be turned away from you and somewhat down, not at the 45-degree angle it was in the stationary test, but still turned away and somewhat down.

You should see a definite inward bend of the left hand, a reflex angle formed by the forearm and the back of the hand. The shaft will be at about a 45-degree angle to the ground and the angle formed by the left arm and the shaft of the club will be somewhat more than a right angle, maybe 100 degrees.

You should feel that the wrists cannot be broken any more. They will be, a little, at the top by the weight of the club head, but they should feel now as though the break were absolutely complete.

What you must see when you turn and look at your hands after the backward break is completed down the knuckle of the left hand, two knuckles of the right, and none of the club face, If these check points are not all clearly visible (except the club-shaft position) exactly as we have given them, your break has been wrong.

The chances are that you have pushed the heel of the right hand sideways against the left thumb, instead of down. This brings the club too sharply on an inside line, tends to open the face somewhat, and doesn’t get the back of the left hand started going down under as it must.

With such a break, when it is completed, you will see two knuckles of the left hand and only one of the right, just as you did at address. So correct it by starting over again and pushing down on the left thumb. That brings the back of the left hand down and under and gives you the position you must have.

What It Does

Heretical, you say? Of course it is. Awkward and uncomfortable? Oh, yes, indeed. But you want to break 80, don’t you, or 90, or whatever goal you have set for yourself? Then stick with it. Hit some balls with it, being sure your execution is right, before you condemn it.

Meanwhile, look what it has done for your swing already. The club head has been started almost straight back from the ball, as it should be. The club face has been kept square, as it must be if you are going to play better golf. The hip slide has moved much of your weight over to the right leg, where it must go, and your hips are now turning somewhat.

Your right elbow has been automatically brought in against your side, starting you on a tight, controlled arc. The wrist break at the same time has started the swing in a plane that will prove to be ideal, neither too upright nor too flat. The shoulders have begun to turn and to tilt just a little, with the left going down slightly, and the right coming up. And, perhaps most important of all, your hands and wrists are set early in exactly the position they must be in.

All this adds up to the fact that although the backswing has progressed only about a third of its distance, you already are locked into actions which will bring you to the top in perfect position.

Your next questions, without a doubt, are going to be: Why is this first move so important, and why does it do what it does?

To answer these we will have to go back quite a few years in the theories of golf technique. Thirty years ago there was one accepted method of hitting a golf ball. That was with an open face and with a late wrist break. Those were the points the teaching pros taught then the face should be opened on the backswing, should be open at the top, and should be closed to a square position on the downswing as the ball was hit.

To make the backward wrist break we merely push the heel of the right hand down against the big knuckle of the left thumb. This is a downward pressure of the heel on the thumb. When it is done, without moving the hands otherwise, the right hand breaks backward at the wrist and the left hand breaks forward or inward, the hack of the left hand going under and facing, in a general way, toward the ground.

When it comes to the basics of etiquette there is more to do with golf than your manners, but you manners play a big role. You have to think about the safety of the other golfers, pace of play, and maintaining good manners while on the golf course. Golf is not like football; it is a sport that needs good morals and manners for it to be properly enjoyable.

If you are playing with a lot of experienced golfers, you will notice that they all have the same way that they approach the game and that is with respect and consideration for others. For those who are new, you have to learn the basic rules of the game and your manners that you should project while on the green.

First, you should consider the safety for others. You should never swing a club unless the others are at a safe distance. You should also move away from the other players so they can swing carefully. You should never practice your swing in the direction of others because you never know what damage you could possible do.

You may end up hurting someone. You could also pick up a rock or other things in the grass that may injure a person. You should also never hit the ball until you know that the other group has moved out of your range. Even if you don’t think that you could hit it that far, don’t chance it, you never know what you can do. Yell fore so that everyone knows that a ball is in the air so that they can take proper safety precautions.

You should also respect the golf course and the rules of the gold course. This is a no brainer because you don’t want to get kicked out or not be welcomed back. You should also never throw your club out of anger. This is rude and many of the people with you will think you are too childish. It could also be dangerous to anyone standing near you.

If you are new to the game, or just need to brush up on your golf etiquette, here are some basic rules of the road that will help keep the game enjoyable for you and those around you.
Out of respect for your group, the group ahead of you, and the group behind you, you should maintain a good pace. If you don’t like waiting for others, than don’t make them wait on you. You should prepare to make your shot because you have even begun your turn. You should also not waste a lot of time looking for any lost balls.

This will hold everyone back, including the other groups. Five minutes is enough and then you need to move on. If you must, you should wave another group on to play first. This way you aren’t inconveniencing anyone. You should also try to keep up with the group ahead of you. This way you know that you are lagging behind. Always take a couple clubs from your cart. This way you don’t have to waste the time going back and forth for clubs. In addition, you should leave the green as you as your group has finished the putting. This way you don’t waste other people’s time.

One of the most common challenges that many golfers face is learning how to fix a slice. Most of us, unfortunately, are familiar with the looping path of a shot fading off center and into the rough (or worse) because of a severe slice.

A slice is caused by the clubface being slightly open at the point of impact. There are two major causes of this unhappy occurrence-your grip or your swing path. Often it’s a combination of both.

Many times, the reason that people slice is that they begin with an improper grip. When the hands are turned too far to the left on the grip, your hands tend to open too far when you come back to impact, which causes the ball to slice.

To get the correct grip on the club, what you want to do is turn your hand around so that your left thumb is more to the back of the shaft. Also, make sure that your left hand is more on top of the grip and position the right hand so that it is facing the direction you want the ball to go.

A good way to check to make sure that you have the correct grip is to use the "two-tee" drill. Insert a tee into the gap between your thumb and first finger of your left hand. Do the same with another tee for the right hand. If both tees are on line over the top of the grip, your grip should be correct to fix a slice. If not, adjust your hands until the tees are aligned correctly with the top of the grip.

The other major culprit causing your ball to slice is the path of your swing. Many golfers are guilty of "coming over the top" of their downswing and hitting across the ball at the point of impact with an "outside-in" swing path. This creates a spin on the ball causing it to slice.

There are a number of drills that can correct this. The underlying principle behind all of them is to insure that the clubface is square at the point of impact. Practicing these drills at home or on the driving range can help you once you actually get out on the course

Many golfers try to compensate for a slice by lining up too far to the left (or right, if you’re a lefty). This can inadvertently cause the circle of your swing path to be even farther outside which just exacerbates the slice on the ball. While this strategy may seem like a viable short-term "fix," it is ultimately a poor choice down the road.

It’s best to find and practice (… this is the key, you MUST practice) drills that can help you to correct the habits that are causing you to slice. While it’s a relatively simple fix, it can be extremely discouraging and frustrating if the root of the problem is not addressed and corrected.

Go for the root of the problem instead of trying to find a "quick fix." This is the best and most effective way to fix a slice.

The French have rather an appropriate expression for a football game that ends in a draw – “match nul”. And that just about sums up the general sentiment after France’s opening 0-0 non-thriller against Romania at Euro 2008.

With the Netherlands thrashing World Cup holders Italy 3-0 in the so-called “Group of Death’s” other game, perhaps the most comfort French coach, Raymond Domenech, can take from the result is that at least his team didn’t lose and managed to come away with one point.

“I knew this group would be very complicated,” he commented afterwards. “We have to bounce back. There are two more matches and six points for the taking,” he added.

Good on Domenech for not resorting to the usual footballing clichés or stating the blindingly obvious that might have escaped the attention of the millions of armchair fans here who turned on their televisions early Monday evening and tuned in to watch Les Bleus superbly underperform.

From start to finish the game was sheer drudgery, with the French mix of young stars and established quality internationals unable to break down the defences of a Romanian team that added little to the game and seemed content to come away with a point.

All right, so captain Patrick Vieira and striker Thierry Henry were both sidelined through injury, but Domenech was still able to field a crop of young players who would make many a national team selector drool in anticipation. Karim Benzema, Franck Ribéry, Jérémy Toulalan – on paper at least they promised to deliver.

They didn’t. And much of the blame surely has to lie fair and square with the man at the helm – Domenech himself.

His appointment as a successor to Jacques Santini after France lost in the quarterfinals of Euro 2004 to the eventual winners Greece raised more than a few eyebrows among both fans and players. And his management style and tactical strategies have often been less than convincing since he took over.

Domenech’s good fortune has been that his reign has been blessed with a generation of talent – not least one of the game’s greats, Zinedine Zidane, who has now sadly hung up his boots.

Although France struggled to make the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Domenech managed to guide them through to the final before famously losing to Italy in a penalty shoot-out – a result that relieved much of the pressure from the manager’s shoulders and secured the renewal of his contract with the French Football Federation.

The 56-year-old former international (he was capped eight times for his country) has not been shy of courting controversy in some of his decisions. To the bemusement of many fans, he has refused to select – seemingly almost on a whim – international stars still very much in their prime such as striker David Trezeguet or winger Ludovic Giuly.

And he earned the wrath of former Chelsea coach José Mourinho by calling up Claude Makélélé into the squad, in spite of the veteran midfielder’s “retirement” from international football. Mourinho accused Domenech of treating the player “like a slave”.

His tactics once again came in for rigorous questioning in qualification for Euro 2008. France booked their place as runners-up in their group to Italy but along the way twice suffered defeats to Scotland – hardly a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination in international football.

Simply put though Monday’s result will have disappointed many who had widely tipped the World Cup runners up to go far in this tournament. Sure it’s not over yet and yes, there are two games remaining.

But Domenech’s head is on the block yet again and six points from two games against the Netherlands and Italy would seem something more than wishful thinking.

Every person who plays golf wants to shoot a low score, but they often find themselves with a handicap that hovers in a certain range for a long period of time.

It is rare that someone drastically improves his or her game just by playing more often. Practicing at a driving range may help, but you are caught in the quandary of having to self-asses what you are doing right and wrong.

When many golfers decide to take the game seriously, they should seek out professional instructors for private golf lessons.

The Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) is comprised of members that are the instructors of the game of golf.

These instructors gained their certification to teach the game through years of studying various aspects of the game and golf course management, work programs including pro shop management, and they had to pass an aptitude test.

Additionally, these golf professionals must also keep up their credentials through ongoing continuing education programs.

Most golf lessons with a Pro take place, in hour-long sessions, at a golf course or driving range, or they could take place at a golf shop that houses a computer swing analyzer.

In addition to one-on-one lessons, many PGA professionals have begun to use video and computer technology to analyze the golfers swing.

Many of the professionals have taken advanced training classes to learn the biomechanics of the golf swing. Additionally, the pros can help you with the mental aspects of the game, and give practical advice.

You may find golf professionals in your local Yellow Pages phone book, or by going online to www.pga.com. There you can find listings of local professionals that can schedule appointments to help you improve your game.

Private golf lessons from a PGA Professional can range in price between $50 and $100 per hour. However, these costs are generally reduced if the golfer chooses to purchase a package of multiple one-hour lessons over a period of time.

Many people have also started planning vacations around golf academies run by PGA professionals. These academies are often geared toward a full day of instruction, and often include several rounds of golf with the instructor.

It is prudent to shop carefully and ask questions when looking at golf academies because some are geared toward one-on-one instruction, and some are set up to instruct large groups of golfers at once, and may not come with the personal attention that one may desire.
