Women’s perfumes are available in all fragrances, shapes and sizes. The range of choice is so huge it would probably be difficult to decide which one is best for you. Here are some helpful tips in knowing which scent fits you best.

The scent that you choose is vital since it shows your personality. There are five known categories of perfumes. Choosing one will make things easier for you.

Floral. These perfumes are dominated by flower fragrances. Some examples of floral scent are rose or lavender. This scent is the most widely used fragrance in the world. This is because it suits all kinds of women, no matter how old they are.

Women who choose floral want a perfume that makes them smell good but the smell does not come across as overpowering. There are plenty of choices for floral perfumes. All the major perfume manufacturers carry this kind of perfume.

Fruit scent. As the name implies, the fruity fragrances derive their smell from fruits. This choice of scent is classic. Women who love fruity scent love the outdoors and want to smell fresh.

Fruity fragrances will make summer even more fun for women. In winter, the scent reminds you of cider and desserts. This perfume is perfect for women who want to smell young and fresh.

Woody. These perfumes make use of sandalwood, cedar and patchouli. These provide earthy smell to the woman. Woody perfumes are more suitable for woman who are mature. This is because the smell makes one appear sophisticated at the same time fresh. This fragrance would be best if used during the colder months.

Green perfumes are lighter than the woody perfumes. They do not give an air of sophistication. Rather, they seem to identify with oriental scents. They give a sporty flair to your personality. This perfume is best for casual evenings or everyday wear. This perfume is best for younger and more active set. If you are contemplating buying a perfume gift, this would be the best choice because of its neutral fragrance.

Oriental perfumes. These perfumes are a mixture of different fine scents like vanilla, flowers, oriental resins and musk. This is considered as the strongest smelling perfume. It also creates an impression of sensuality and sophistication.

Often, oriental perfumes combine the different smells like woody with fruity. This perfume is best if worn at work or when you are out on a date. This is also great if worn on special occasions as it makes you stand out. This perfume fits women of all ages.

Pick up any beginner’s piano lessons book and you’ll notice two things. And they both make it harder to learn piano than it should be.

1. Most piano beginner books are aimed at children. It appears that the piano book publishing sector thinks that only children want to learn the piano. This is plainly not the case as there are thousands and thousands of people who have always dreamed of playing piano but who never had the chance to learn when they were children. I know because I’m one of them. Years ago, when I was a kid, I didn’t know anyone who played the piano or who even had a piano in their front room. This was always the norm in middle-class Victorian families but not, alas, among the working classes. So very few of us had the opportunity of learning the piano at that time. Nowadays, children do have that opportunity and so today, if you pick up any of the majority of beginner piano books, you’ll find that it’s littered with little elves and pixies, the tunes will be mindlessly dull and the net effect will be to turn you away from what you’re trying to achieve. That’s not to say that there aren’t any beginner piano books targeted at adults, but they are not easy to find. And they still suffer from one major problem. And this takes me to my next point:

2. There is a fundamental flaw in the ideas of piano lessons from books. Here’s a little experiment: Write down instructions to sing the song made by a robin so that a person who has never heard one before can sing it back to you. Of course, it can’t be done. It doesn’t matter how many word you write, they’ll never translate into a sound – the two media are completely incompatible. It’s the same as trying to tell a blind man what the color blue looks like. It’s not possible. So what’s the answer? For years and years there was no solution and all the people who wanted to teach-yourself piano only had these silent books which could never teach them properly. But now, it’s time to rejoice! Easy piano lessons do exist! The new generation of piano lesson software contains not only the words and the notes written on the staves that you expect to see but also, and this is the killer difference, they contain audio clips of the pieces of music that you’re supposed to be learning. It really does make an enormous difference because finally it’s possible to see what the notes look like and hear the sound that they translate into when played by a professional. It makes it much, much simpler and a lot quicker too, to learn to play piano than it’s ever been before.

Thankfully it is true, you can get easy piano lessons for beginners. It’s simply a matter of downloading the best package for you and get playing at last!

If you’re beginning piano, the easiest and quickest piano lessons are found in teach-yourself piano software. You can work at your own speed and learn in your own way. The most popular piano lessons for beginners are featured at http://www.pianodetective.com where you can read actual user comments on the different packages available.

When conducting research for a school project or an article, certain information that might be crucial to your overall topic may prove a pain to research. Even with the wealth of information already available at your disposal, certain subjects that may be native to a certain part of the world, may not be available from sources that you can understand.

I encountered this exact same problem while conducting research for a magazine article I was writing on a certain type of gadget. Since it has received little adoption in the US and the UK, much of the information available for it were written on websites that served non-English speaking audiences. In fact, the bulk of the reviews and press releases I found were either in Korean or Japanese.

Instead of giving up on it, though, I downloaded the available research pieces and put them through a language translation software, which I purchased online over a year ago. Within minutes, I had all of my references translated in English, allowing me to conduct the necessary study to write my piece. However, don’t forget to ad the translation sources as references to your document.

Translation software has helped me tremendously in my job as a writer, allowing me to derive cutting-edge information from sources that aren’t easily available to English speakers. As a result, my reports are often more expansive in coverage than those from others who haven’t yet discovered the benefits of sifting through foreign language documents as a vital source of research.

When you write for a mixed audience, occasionally peppering your work with foreign phrases can lend it a character that makes it more endearing to certain segments of it. If you write a blog, for instance, and has seen a growing number of French readers, throwing in a couple of French phrases during a piece (even if you haven’t learned to speak the tongue) can really make it all the more special for those who pick up on the reference.

Common Expressions

Throwing in a common expression from the foreign language is employed by many writers. However, much of the luster in this case tends to fade away, especially if it’s such a frequently employed phrase, such as greetings or clichés.

Section Headers

I love using the technique on section headers, especially if the article is related to the foreign language. When I wrote a piece about Italian aperitifs for a food website, for instance, I wrote short two to three word section headers, ran them through a language translation software and used the Italian equivalents on the actual piece.

While English-speaking readers probably didn’t understand what the headers meant, they would have picked up on it eventually based on the context of the section. On the other hand, Italian readers loved it, almost like it paid a genuine homage to them.

Full Foreign Language Sentences

Occasionally, I’ve seen writers use full sentences in the foreign language as part of the piece. Even without explaining what they meant, the pieces flowed smoothly, while lending it a special character. As with headers, let the context fill in the blanks.

Language Software offers great software for translation and language learning purposes at decent prices. Read more 1 Read more 2

There are many advantages of learning French in France, although the most valuable is that you will learn French with a genuine French accent and with all the French colloquialisms that confuse so many people.

In order to speak French like the French do, it makes sense to learn in France, and while there are many excellent French language courses in the USA, Canada the UK and elsewhere, it is essential that if you want to speak the language as it is spoken in France, then you will have a definite advantage if you go to France to learn it.

There are several French language courses that enable you to learn in the country where the language started and also to steep yourself in the culture of that country. What better way to learn any language than for a group of like-minded people to get together and not only attend classes together, but learn about the geography, the history and the culture of that country together? Learn France’s position in the European Community, and how the citizens of the country feel about the Euro in comparison to the Franc.

Listen to the music that they listen to and watch their TV. Eat their food, and learn the real terms that French men and women use when ordering a meal in a restaurant – not just the grammatically correct version of the language taught in schools and most other French courses in your own country.

In fact, if you could be French for a few weeks, or even a year – the choice is yours – don’t you believe that at the end of your course you will have a much better understanding of the language and the people that speak it naturally? It is surely better for you to learn how to speak French as the French speak it? However, that raises one problem associated with learning any language.

The France of today is not that much different to the country of yesteryear in that, not only does it have many dialects as your own country likely has, but these different dialects also have their own vocabulary. We are not discussing accents here, such as the difference between those in Alabama, Boston and the Bronx. In France they are virtually different languages. In the UK the nearest would be the true Yorkshire and Cornish dialects that are as different from each other and from normally accepted English in their accent and vocabulary as chalk and cheese.

With French, we are not just discussing the massive differences between the language as spoken in Canada, the Caribbean, Africa and France, but also within France there are many different languages spoken such as Languedocien, Provençal, Limousin, Gascon, Lorrain, and, of course, accepted ‘classical’ French. When living in France to learn the language, you must:

a) Be careful that you are learning ‘true’ French, whatever that may be, and b) Be grateful for the opportunity to learn French in its various dialects if you wish to do so.

Many might not be interested in learning the local patois, and in any case it is normally possible for you to choose to learn in any of a number of different regional centers. You can then focus on ‘classical’ French (such as the UK ‘acquired’ English of the BBC as it was once known) or any of a number of different local accents or dialects.

The problem with learning any language using classes in your home town these days is that you never know what version you are learning. To learn French, for example, you will normally sign up for a class with little previous knowledge of the language except, perhaps, what you have learned in school. Your accent will be hopeless and you would have difficulty making yourself understood in France using regular school French.

What that means in effect, is that when you have joined a French class and start learning then you really have no idea what accent or dialect you are learning in. You take what you get, only you don’t know what you are either taking or getting, so to speak, and could be learning an arcane dialect or a modern Parisian equivalent – as far as you are aware!

That points to a major benefit of learning French in France: you will be learning the dialect of French spoken both by your teachers and by the residents in the areas you are based. You can be sure that it is a working version of the language, and that doesn’t sound as silly as it might to you because many people learning in Los Angeles or Edinburgh find the French they have learned is only barely understood by real French people.

So, the advantages of learning French in France are numerous, although the most useful of them is that once you have finished your course people will understand what you are saying, and even more importantly, a difficulty that many find who have learned in school, you will understand when they speak to you in French. Listening is always harder than speaking, but not if you learn French in France.

More information on learning French in France is available from http://www.languagesinaction.com/learn-french/france/ where you will find a number of advantages on how to learn languages in their countries of origin.

An organized classroom is a well run classroom. Many students have trouble learning in a cluttered, unorganized setting. Parents, as well, like to come into a classroom that is well organized and where everything has a place. This is easier said than done in a busy Kindergarten classroom. Kindergarteners like to learn by playing, touching, doing, and feeling. Classrooms can easily become a mess. Classroom rugs and cubbies are a great way to keep a Kindergarten classroom organized. Of course, these methods can be used well beyond the Kindergarten years.

Classroom Rugs

Classroom rugs are an ideal way to separate a classroom into sections without using large dividers that make the room look more cluttered. A large rug can fit the entire class and offers restless Kindergarteners a visual boundary. Teachers can instruct students to go sit on the rug and students know immediately where to go, and what the boundaries of the area are, the outline of the rug. In this setting, teachers can do reading time, go over flashcards, or have class discussion time.

In addition to a large classroom rug, adding a few small rugs can be very useful in organizing the classroom. Small rugs are ideal for centers or small group learning. When a small group of students needs to be instructed separately or when the class needs to be broken into reading groups, the small rug is great. There is no need to move chairs or push other items aside to make room. Teachers can just send students to a small area already mark out by a rug.

Cubbies

Individual storage areas are another must have item in a Kindergarten classroom. Whereas older students can mostly keep themselves organized by hanging their items on hooks or putting things away inside desks, Kindergarten students are still learning. For many kids, school is a brand new experience and they still need help organizing their things. Backpacks, lunch bags, coats, extra clothes, and special stuffed animals can be easily stored in cubbies.

Individual areas can be labeled with the child’s name. All the items belonging to that child as well as the papers and projects they do at school can be placed in their private space. Cubbies do not take up much room and are a great way to keep everything organized. Parents can easily have access to the cubbies as well when dropping off or picking up students.

Cubbies aren’t just for a student’s belongings. Cubbies are also ideal for organizing classroom supplies such as toys, art supplies, construction paper, art smocks, manipulatives, and more. Units such as the Mainstream Cubby Units come with pull out plastic bins to make storing that much easier. Cubbies also offer students a way to learn responsibility for their own belongings and their classroom belongings.

Having an organized classroom is very important when it comes to a Kindergarten, or any, classroom. Students learn better and teachers can instruct without stress in a less chaotic classroom. Using classroom rugs and cubbies is an affordable way to keep your Kindergarten classroom organized and running smoothly.

Educators have a hard enough time with over crowding and budget constraints. Alycia Shapiro of SensoryEdge has searched and found quality products that help control the chaos of today’s classrooms at http://www.sensoryedge.com. You’ll find colorful and affordable classroom rugs, cubbie units, book displays and more great school furniture pieces.

There are two ways you can learn a language: the quick way, or the correct way. The following tips and tricks are not meant for someone that wants to learn French for example simply so he can handle himself in a basic conversation 3 weeks from now, or for someone that needs to learn basic German in 2 weeks to get a D on her term paper. They’re meant for people that want to learn a secondary language thoroughly, become fluent in it and learn it correctly.

Language Learning Tips and Tricks – Stepwise Progression

Always use a stepwise progression when learning a new language. Most language lessons will provide a step by step structure, but if you settle on learning it on your own, try to follow these basic steps:

1. Learn some basic words to get used to your new language and to have a starting vocabulary.
2. Learn the basic grammar rules in combination with the basic words you learnt at step 1.
3. Once you get a mediocre grip on that language’s grammar, work hard to improve vocabulary.

Language Learning Tips and Tricks – Consistency

Ok, learning a new language, despite what those "learn Chinese in 14 days" books and free language lessons online tell you, is not an easy process. When you were a kid, did you manage to learn English (or your mother tongue) in 14 days? Of course not. It takes months to start understanding a new language and years to "think" in it and speak it fluently.

That’s why you’ll need to be consistent in your language learning process. Don’t learn for 1 week, than take a 1 month break, only to come back to learn for two more weeks. Try learning for shorter periods, but daily. Half an hour spent learning Chinese each day will be far more effective than learning for two weeks and taking a break for one month before continuing your studies.

Language Learning Tips and Tricks – Patience

Like I said above, learning a new language takes a while and is definitely not an easy task, especially if you want to become fluent in it. When setting out to learn a new language, make sure that you understand this won’t be a 2-week ride and that you’ll have to invest a lot of time and work in it.

You’ll have moments when you’ll probably simply want to quit or give up because you don’t understand a particular concept that is different in the language you’re learning than in your mother tongue. If you can overcome these moments (which are more likely to appear during your first month) then you are well on your way to mastering the new language.

Language Learning Tips and Tricks – Learn Efficiently

You’ll find that a lot of the numerous language learning methods out there may prove extremely useful or almost worthless to you. Each person has his strengths and weaknesses so it’s only natural that some methods work best with some people. That’s why I don’t really trust people saying that THEIR method is "the best". How do they know it’s the best for you? Anyway, you’ll have to figure out for yourself which of these methods suit you most and follow up on that road rather than settling for what someone else considers "the best".

Some language learning methods include: playing vocabulary games, taking up some free language lessons online or offline, flashcards, taking up courses, using course books or simply improving your vocabulary naturally by watching TV shows or listening to audio tapes where people speak the language you’re trying to learn.

If you manage to combine these 4 factors, you’ll be assimilating the new language in no time. But remember, they all need to work together, if you’re missing one of them, the language learning card castle may crumble. For example, it doesn’t matter if you manage to learn efficiently, if you don’t learn consistently. Or it doesn’t matter if you follow a stepwise learning process, if you don’t have the patience to finish it. And obviously, no learning process can be perfected without a lot of practice, so after you mastered the above-mentioned four factors, practice hard, practice often and practice consistently.

Increase your foreign language vocabulary at http://www.InternetPolyglot.com by playing online games. The site contains thousands of lessons in different languages from English, Spanish, French, Russian to Hindi, Turkish, Ukrainian and many others.

Bamboo is a woody perennial evergreen plant that is actually part of the true grass family. It’s potential growth average is amazing (capable of growing 3 to 4 feet a day with some varieties), it is also a strong and durable plant, much more so than one would think.

Although they can grow to towering heights, bamboo is not actually considered a tree. It is very versatile, unlike any other plant of it’s kind and should be considered a valuable asset to the growing environmental concerns that plague us today.

Bamboo is without doubt the material and food of the future. With an average investment return of three to five years as far as plantation is concerned, this compares extremely well with the ten years required to achieve the same return on any other types of wood.

Not only does bamboo have a great material and food importance as well as housewares and furniture, it also has mammoth ecological potential too. In today’s world of fuel wars and the ever deteriorating ozone layer, the natural product of bamboo has taken the driving seat as far as international energy is concerned.

The successful utilization of bamboo in the manufacturing process of renewable ethanol and diesel is apparent and on an ecological note bamboo is likely to contribute to the saving of our environment due to the huge amounts of carbon dioxide which is sequestered during the time the bamboo is growing.

Carbon dioxide is taken in by bamboo at a much higher rate than other trees and and since bamboo is of the evergreen variety this happens all year round. Any amount of fuel made from bamboo would create a like for like impact as it would only release the same amount of carbon dioxide as was consumed by the bamboo in its growing stages.

As well as the considerable fuel possibilities bamboo boasts the quickest reforestation potential period of any plant which provides the burnt landscapes with new life within only a few months. This is great for areas that are under constant threat of wildfires and other natural disasters that seem to be ever so present today.

Bamboo is not only safe for the environment in this age of all manner of ecological problems which have arisen from extensive use of fossil fuels but it is also a renewable supply of fuel and materials for building, creating a positive effect on the environment.

With a little time and dedicated research the prospect is sure to be brighter as bamboo is used more and more and it could prove to be the jewel in the crown when a plantation pops up in a field near to your home at some time in the near future.

As consumers, we should take great considerations when purchasing any commercial goods of any kind. As a nation, we must take the steps to educate ourselves about the bounty of natural resources that will undoubtedly affect future generations.

I thrive on researching and utilizing natural resources that are plentiful and renewable. One of my favorite pieces of bamboo include outdoor tiki furniture as I love to entertain on a regular basis, especially during the warmer months.

When it’s time to estimate the cost of a college education, most teens and their parents quickly add up tuition, room and board. But what about the additional costs of higher education? The sticker shock of college can often send freshmen and their parents reeling. By taking a look at the broader picture in advance, preferably while teens are still in the early years of high school, parents can be better prepared to afford the true cost of today’s college educations.

Textbooks for classes average roughly $800 per semester today, with some majors requiring books and lab equipment that cost far more. If you’re going to major in engineering, you can expect to pay as much as $1,500 some semesters during your upper level courses. Add in printing supplies, notebooks and all the other school necessities as well to the tune of another $200 for the year.

One thing is inevitable when lots of people live together in close proximity, they will get sick. Particularly freshmen. Studies have shown that the average freshman university student spends almost one hundred dollars on items like cold remedies, tissues, cough syrup and other over the counter medications.

The dining halls may have a lot to offer, but no student can go without pizza and burgers for too long, so we’ll list this as a necessity. Figure on a few hundred dollars each semester for take-out and delivery foods. Be honest and adjust accordingly if you’re really into eating out. Some people like to eat at a really nice restaurant once a week; others are fine with McDonald’s all the time.

What about transportation? Will you be keeping a car on campus? Then you’ll probably have to pay for a university parking permit. Will you be driving home regularly on the weekends to see your family and friends? Taking road trips with your new college friends? You’ll need money for gasoline, upkeep on your car and auto insurance. If you will be attending school thousands of miles from home, it can be quite expensive to fly home for the holidays, so make sure you book flights well in advance to save money.

Computers are as essential as textbooks for students today. Be sure you check with your college or university to see if they recommend a particular brand or model; some offer special discounts that can save you hundreds of dollars.

Cell phones can vary vastly in cost; be sure to compare plans and check out the coverage at your school. If you can stay with a family plan that has full coverage in the area where your school is located, it’s probably your best bet. Be aware, though, that cell phone bills for college students often go up sharply freshman year because of phone calls home and to high school friends. Text messaging can also jack up the cost, so review the bill each month and adjust your plan if need be.

Internet access is another reasonable expense that you’ll probably want to consider if you live off-campus in an apartment. While there will be free internet access at many points on campus, including libraries and classrooms, its much easier to work from home, so the investment, which is usually less than twenty dollars a month, is worth it.

Entertainment, including movies, dances and shows, are popular on college campuses. Fortunately, the campus centers usually offer them at a reduced rate to save students a bit of money. The occasional new game cartridge, CD or MP3 download should also be budgeted for. Again, be honest with yourself when estimating how much you’re likely to spend so that you’re prepared.

When preparing for the hidden expenses of college, students need to sit down with their parents and honestly evaluate how much money they think they will need and plan ahead to add these to the more obvious expenses of tuition, room and board. The resulting figure they come up with will give them a more accurate idea of the real cost of a college education.

IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient. IQ tests have been known as the easiest way to measure a person’s intelligence since it began in France in 1904. The French government commissioned psychologist Alfred Binet to find a way to separate children by their intelligence. The government wanted to put the intelligent children in a separate school from the intellectually inferior ones, this was to give these children the opportunity to get individual attention instead of grouped with children that were "smarter" than they were as well, the government wanted to give the intellectual children a chance to learn without disruption. This led Binet to create the Binet Scale, which he stated was to be used to determine which children needed special education and which children did not. It was not supposed to be used as a general device for ranking all pupils at their mental worth. Intelligence could not be considered by just one score, according to Binet and therefore anyone trying to do so would be condemning a child to being thought of as stupid and could negatively affect their educational level and experience.

The Binet scale was profoundly used in the United States, and it was not used properly. The psychologists and educators that used the scale did not heed Binet’s concerns that the scale was actually limiting, and intelligence testing was soon seen as being more important that it actually was.

The unreliability of an Intelligence Quotient test has been proven more than one time. Someone may do exceptionally well during one testing period, he or she could take the same test again, and do poorly or more poorly than they did the first time that they took the test. There is also a bias that should be taken into account when looking at test scores. One study showed that 99 school psychologists scored IQ tests taken from the exact same records and they came up with several different scores for the same individual.

So the question is, what are Intelligence Quotients really testing when they are given, and what is intelligence? Is it being able to do well in school or is it more common sense? Just because someone does poorly on an IQ test may not mean that they are unintelligent at all. The facts as to what makes someone unintelligent have not really been measured in the proper way, and intelligence like beauty is really in the eye of the beholder.

What’s your intelligence quotient? You can find out in a matter of minutes if you visit I&Q Group to take one of their online IQ tests, http://iq-test.co.uk/

Having made the decision that home schooling is the best learning opportunity for your child, you now need to consider some basic steps in order to create that school environment. Follow the easy steps below and you’ll soon have a free basic schoolroom in which to get your home schooling experience off to a great start.

1. Where is your Classroom? One of the easiest things you can do is to decide which part of your home is going to be the "classroom". It doesn’t need to be an entire room, but it does need to be somewhere that’s seldom – if ever – used for anything else.

A good thing about having a designated area as a classroom means that once your child enters that place, they know that they are there to learn, and not to play. The "tag" of classroom helps them make the mental shift from "home" to "school". This also shows the level of importance you place on education because you are willing to donate part of the home strictly for this purpose. It sends a positive message about your views of education to your child. So think carefully about the usual use and flow of your home and then pick a study area that will be kept out of bounds for anything other than home schooling.

2. Setting up your Classroom: You need to have room to sit down with your child while they learn. There needs to be a table for their books and shelves for reference material. Ideally having a lot of natural light would be good to help your child focus, but if this isn’t possible, then adequate electric light needs to supplied. If possible, having at least one wall area that you can pin things on is a great advantage as is the use of a computer within the "classroom" area.

If you don’t have space in your home to give an entire area 100% to your classroom, then make sure that the area you choose does have the ability to keep school things such as charts, reference books, etc. in the area at all times so that you don’t have to keep pinning things up and moving them around. Some of your other audio visual materials, for example an easel, globe or whiteboard, may have to be stored elsewhere when you aren’t actually using them, but the less you need to move things around, the more time you will have for teaching your child.

Your child is going to spend most of his time sitting at the desk or table, so make sure that the work surface is at a good height for him and that the chair is comfortable. If possible, make a storage area beside the desk for him to keep his study materials in so that again time isn’t wasted in collecting these each day before school begins.

3. Setting up the Rules: Having set up the physical area, now you need to establish the rules of your school. In a normal classroom environment the rules are there simply to keep order among a large number of students, but that doesn’t mean that home schooling should be without rules. Think about the rules a normal school has – such as asking if they may go to the bathroom, or no music, or the correct way to ask a question – and then consider which of the rules you want to keep within your own schoolroom.

Some of these rules may seem petty in a small environment, whereas others may be a good foundation for later in life when your child will be expected to know how to wait his turn for something. Decide which rules your home schooling environment will implement, write these down, discuss them with your child, and then ensure that you enforce them.

4. Setting up the Study: You will need to create your own study timetable, even if you are following a set curriculum offered by one of the home schooling organizations. To do this, read their information carefully and allocate the right number of hours per subject per week. The beauty of home schooling is in its flexibility, but you must ensure that you cover all of the material required for the academic year, and to do that, you must ensure the right number of hours per subject.

You know your child best. You know his strengths and his weaknesses. You know where you’re going to find it difficult to keep his focus, and the subject’s he’ll focus on all day if you’d let him. Use this information when scheduling his study time; it could be that four half-hour blocks in subjects he doesn’t focus well on will be more productive than two one-hour ones. Set the initial timetable and run it for a trial 2 weeks to see how it works, and then tweak anything you think could work better.

A successful home schooling experience comes from good planning, organization and a positive, flexible approach to learning. Use the steps above to put the foundation blocks for this into place and you’ll be off to a good start.

You need to have room to sit down with your child while they learn. There needs to be a table for their books, and shelves for reference material. Ideally having a lot of natural light would be good to help your child focus, but if this isn’t possible, then adequate electric light needs to supplied. If possible having at least one wall area that you can pin things on is a great advantage as is the use of a computer within the "classroom" area.

With the financial crisis still looming around and a period of uncertainty not yet over, more and more people are becoming resourceful to eke out a living or increase their income. One thing is certain for sure that in times of crisis, studies have shown that women tend to beautify themselves more. One may argue that this may be a sexist statement but if you read the explanation put forth, there is some sense to such a brazen statement.

Going to the beauty parlor, getting your nails done, hair done, or having a great massage is a good way for women to de-stress. Often times it is in such moments of relaxation that people get a serendipity moment, a situation which somehow resolves a current problem present. It is when one does not think of the problem too much, that a solution presents itself. In the beautifying process, women get to relax and at the same time make themselves attractive, which may also help hide their own fears and problems to the family. Whatever others may think, in a family, it is the woman who is the rock, preserving the fragile relationships among siblings and parents, constantly encouraging and motivating her loved ones, and most of all, being strong and calm in the face of adversity. Perhaps their outlet for all of these indirect responsibilities is through beautification. Sometimes looking good affects your feeling good inside as well.

Being a nail technician is something a person can do to augment his or her personal income. Although this job is more suitable for women, men are not restricted from becoming one. There are courses which one can take to become a licensed nail technician which among others certifies you in acrylic and gel application, and thoroughly teaches you the intricacies of cutting, cleaning and polishing nails. What is key to being a nail technician sometimes is what is not necessarily overtly taught in a nail technician academy. It is the ability to interact with your customer.

Interaction does not necessarily just mean talking with them, but listening to them as well. For most customers, taking at least twenty minutes to have their nails done, this is a time for them to relax, and perhaps loosen up. Some customers may be gregarious and engaging in conversations that may not be of relevance to you, but may mean a whole world to them. Take the time to listen and react courteously and in no time, you may have a loyal customer. Other times, some customers want some peace and quiet while you do your work. Give them their own time and space and they will surely appreciate it.

For a tutor, communication with parents is a must. Tutors that communicate with the parent frequently tend to run a more successful business, land clients that are willing to pay slightly higher fees, and have clients that are more likely to offer referrals. In addition, sessions are more productive and tutors find it easier to build a relationship with clients. As tutor, you will most likely have an initial consultation with the parent and then communicate periodically to inform the parent of the progress you and their child are making during your sessions. Here are some things to keep in mind.

Be sure to have a lengthy initial conversation with the parent. This is your opportunity to sell yourself and convince parents that you are going to be the key to their child’s academic success. One of the goals of this initial consultation is to share with the parent your philosophy regarding tutoring and what your approach with their child will be.

Many parents don’t quite understand how online tutoring works and need to have it explained to them step-by-step. For instance, many parents are amazed to learn that the tutor and child will communicate by voice in real time through their computer’s microphone and speakers. Many are under the assumption that the major form of communication will be through typing back and forth, chat room style, or believe that you will be working with many students at the same time. Use the initial consultation to make sure that the parents clearly understand what they are signing up for and be sure to answer any questions that they have.

Once you have established a rapport with the parents and helped them to understand what will happen during a session, you need to gain as much information about the student as you can from the parent. Be prepared for this portion of the conversation by having a list of specific questions that you will ask. Encourage the parent to elaborate and be sure to take a lot of notes that you can refer to later. Be positive, enthusiastic and reassuring during the entire talk. Keep in mind that the parents have turned to you because they are currently struggling and are probably frustrated because what they are doing is not working and they are looking for answers. Help them to believe that you will be the answer to their problem.

Be sure to maintain communication with the parents once you have started tutoring their child. Many tutors find it best to write a quick email to the parent immediately after the session finishes letting them know what was covered, how well they feel the student understands the material, and what the student should be working on before the next session. Taking a few minutes to write a couple of sentences will help the parents feel like they know what’s going on and what they are paying for.

Some tutors even have a generic form that they fill out after each session to keep a record of what went on during the session. They include not only the basics such as what was covered and the level of understanding of these various topics, but they also include information to help them prepare for the next session, or what the attitude of the student was during the session. A copy of this document can be emailed to the parent as well as filed away by the tutor.

Students often need tutors because they are struggling with material in school. Their confidence may be low and their frustration level is often high. They may feel as though they aren’t as smart as the rest of their classmates or that no one gets why they don’t understand concepts that others kids have already mastered. A good tutor should recognize this and focus on changing the child’s attitude through encouragement and positive feedback. This should also be relayed to the parent as often as possible. Every parent wants to see their child happy and confident and hearing positive comments from you will mean a lot to them.

Finally, some parents would like to know how their child is progressing over a longer period of time. Consider evaluating a student when you first start working with them and re-evaluating them again after a few months have passed and provide both the student and parent with both positive and negative feedback. Such areas that should be addressed should be: What are the student’s strengths and weaknesses? How has their approach to learning improved? How have their study habits changed?

Periodic feedback is crucial to building and maintaining relationships with parents. Make it a point before you start working with new clients to develop a plan for efficient but meaningful communication and convey to the parents how important you feel keeping them informed is. This philosophy will be one of the keys to helping you build a strong and extensive tutoring business.

Most people upon completion of high school move on to college where they can continue studying. However, most is not all. There are plenty of people who choose not to move on or who choose to wait before attending college.

For some of these people that choice is determined by the lack of money and/or time. But these shouldn’t be the deciding factor. There are opportunities out there that make going to college possible for just about anybody, regardless of their financial situation or busy life.

Everybody knows that financial aid is available for those who believe they can’t afford college. During the high school years many students choose a few scholarships or grants that they want to receive and work to achieve them by the time they graduate. Most of these are either need-based or merit-based.

Of course, not every student can earn one. For those individuals still in need of financial aid there are student loans available. There are a variety of loans available. Some of them are government subsidized, some of them aren’t. They will all vary in amount, interest rate, repayment schedule, etc, but it is not uncommon for a student loan to have deferred payments until six months after the student has completed his studies.

The last form of financial aid is work study. In order for a student to receive work study he must work at a job part-time, generally no more than twenty hours per week. These jobs are often on campus and can even be related to the major he is studying. This can give him an advantage when he completes his training and enters the workforce.

Lack of time can make it extremely difficult to start college, but it doesn’t have to make it impossible. Many people choose to attend college part-time rather than taking on a full schedule. This, of course, will add on a couple of years before they complete their degree, but they will at least complete it.

For others even that is too much. These people often turn to the internet to finish their schooling. There are many accredited online degrees available to the person willing to complete the work through correspondence.

Generally speaking a college graduate has a better chance of getting a job in a field that they love than a person who has not attended college. Employers take into consideration the extra skills and training a person has received, as well as the institution which taught the person those skills.

DegreeSearch.org (http://degreesearch.org/accredited_online_degrees) provides information on accredited online degrees.

You may not think that a poly tarpaulin can help you with green living. However, these versatile items are excellent for a large number of environmentally sound uses. Recycling gets a lot of attention as a way to save the Earth, but people frequently forget that reducing our use of resources in the first place is a better method. By using tarps to protect your building, landscaping, and other materials from damage and degradation, you can assure yourself that you’ll use the minimum possible.Green and camouflage tarps also are suitable for blending into the environment and look more pleasant than looking at a vivid blue tarp.

When left out to the weather, metal rusts, materials like concrete react and solidify before they are supposed to, paint can be contaminated, and plastics degrade. To keep your materials safe, place them on pallets above the ground and be sure to cover them with the appropriate tarp. Choosing the right tarp for your use is an important part of protecting the environment. The wrong tarp might not cover your materials adequately, or may degrade before its purpose is served. Because of this, you should be certain to make the right choice the first time you purchase a tarp.

Originally, tarps were made of proofed canvas. This kind is still available, and is appropriate for some uses. However, canvas tarps are generally very heavy and awkward, as well as being expensive. A well-selected poly tarpaulins is a better choice for many uses. It’s possible to find polyethylene tarps made out of recycled materials. The item you use to protect your building materials may once have made up drink and food containers. Polyethylene accounts for the majority of plastics recycling. However, plastics cannot be recycled into items that contain edibles, because of contamination risk. This means that a lot of recycled plastics see a new life as stuffing for pillows and jackets, trash bags, and, of course, tarps.

You’re probably used to seeing the budget blue tarp sold at hardware stores. These are good for lightweight applications that don’t expose them to the sun as they are not so durable. They’re usually about 6 mils thick. If you’re looking for a heavy duty tarp to take some punishment, like a carport cover, try getting an 11 or 12 mil tarp, or even a super heavy duty grade one – 23 mils thick. Unfortunately, like lumber, the specified size of the tarp isn’t actually the size. Most of these items will be 4-6 inches smaller in every dimension. The size specified on the package is the size prior to hemming. Be sure to take this into account when buying your tarpaulin.

For specialized applications, you can find tarps made to do a variety of jobs and sold in many different colors. Corner reinforced tarps resist tearing, and UV treated ones are protected against the weakening that polyethylene often suffers because of sunlight exposure. Flame retardant tarps are available for use in areas subject to a lot of heat. If you want a tarp that will keep sunlight off of your materials, you can get specialty tarps that have an additional layer to reflect or block the sun’s rays. Silver sun blocking tarps reflect light away, keeping the items underneath cool in the summer. This means that covering your carport or temperature sensitive materials with this kind of tarp is an excellent idea.

Most students begin choosing a university they want to attend the summer before their senior year in high school. It is really important to begin researching and applying to colleges early on so that you will have all the decisions made when it comes time to apply in the fall. It is important to apply early because if you wait too long there may not be any spots left. So, here are a few things you will want to consider when it comes to choosing a college.

Academics

The biggest reason for kids to go to college is to get an education. So, the first thing you should focus on when it comes to choosing a college is the academics. Remember, that some colleges are known for their science programs while others are known for engineering, medicine, law, and others. Determine more or less what you want to major in and then choose a college based on this. It is important to make a list of your top three majors so that you look for a school that is good at all of these. The reason why is most college kids change their majors several times and you never know when you begin where you will end up!

Extracurricular Activities

You want to have fun while you aren’t studying, so it is important to find a college that has a great selection of extracurricular activities. This includes political clubs, intramural sports, and more. You want to have fun while at college and foster new ideas and friends. Extracurricular activities are a great way to do this. Plus, you can explore things you like in a safe setting. For example, you could join the Young Republicans or Young Democrats club. Join a sorority or fraternity, or play a sport! There should be a lot of options open to you so that you can make the best decisions for your college years.

Cost

Another thing you will want to look at when choosing a college is cost. Public institutions cost less than private ones, and generally a lot less. You could probably even cover your tuition at a public institution on your student credit card if you didn’t have any other funds. But, that is never the case with private colleges. They cost $20,000 or more per year and when you add up four years of college, not to mention post graduate studies, you are looking at some major debt. So, if there is a public institution that rivals a private one, then consider the cheaper option. You will find your student credit card limit goes a lot further when your semester’s tuition is only a couple thousand dollars.

Ranking

School ranking is also important. You want to go to the best school you can get into so you get the best education. That means you need to evaluate the schools you are interested in and see where they are ranked. Doing this will help you choose the best schools to apply to.

Find a student credit card and more of Tom’s work at FINDcollegecards.

At some point in your child’s academic career, you may discover that he is suffering from math anxiety. While it’s not a problem that can’t be overcome, it does require extra attention on the part of the parent, who may need to find outside help to properly address it.

One way that parents have found success with addressing math anxiety is through online math tutoring. Both similar and different than traditional, face-to-face tutoring, it offers unique benefits that can help your child face this anxiety and come out on the other side of it victorious.

Taking Advantage of Live Chats

One unique benefit of online math tutoring for students with math anxiety is the ability to communicate with a live tutor. What once seemed to be the missing element of online tutoring was the lack of face-to-face interaction that for many students is extremely important. By being able to create a personal comradery with a tutor, the student can feel more comfortable with instructions given, and can essentially trust in the tutor – and oneself – that the math assignments and tests can be completed successfully.

As tutors began to pop up online, the missing element of face-to-face communication appeared to be a potential hindrance to tutoring success – especially in reference to math anxiety. That is, until live chatting in text and video formats became available. With students being able to communicate in real-time with their tutors, the same level of comradery can be achieved, thus allowing students with varying levels of math anxiety to receive the same delicate reassurance they need to succeed on their homework assignments and tests.

Overcoming Nervousness with Practice Sheets

In addition to working personally with a caring and understanding tutor, it is important for the student to receive assurance regularly of his ability to perform. Repitition and practice is a great way to get this done. And luckily, a bonus of working with most online math tutoring sites is access to resources like practice problems and worksheets.

By logging into the tutoring site that offers practice problems, your child can take advantage of pre-generated problems that help him practice over and over again until he feels confident that he understands the concept. And if your child works better with pencil and paper, you can also download and print worksheets. This makes sure your child isn’t confined to one place in order to work. Instead, he can venture around the house and work on problems in a setting that makes him feel more comfortable.

Accessing Around-the-Clock Assistance

Another great benefit of utilizing online tutoring to help ease math anxiety is the availability it offers. Unlike a personal tutor who can’t be available anytime your child begins to stress about an upcoming test, online tutoring services are often available 24 hours a day. This means, if your child wakes up nervous about a test, you can hop online and find a tutor who can resolve the math issue. Or you can even download some worksheets to ease the stress.

Math anxiety is not an issue to be ignored. Luckily, by seeking the assistance of an online tutor, along with any other professional help necessary, your child can make it through his semester of math successfully.

TutorsAnywhere.com is a complete online resource that compares tutoring services and products offered by top online companies. If your child is in need of an online math tutor, find the best solution for your family at http://tutorsanywhere.com/math-tutors/.

Hard though this may be to believe, if you use the following method for addition, you will greatly increase your speed.

Add With Complements

The basic rule for the new technique is this:
To "add" over ten, subtract the complement of the larger digit from the smaller digit – and record a ten.

First we need to learn what complements are. Then we will take up how to record tens. Both are easy.

What is a complement? A complement is simply the digit that, added to the digit you have, adds up to ten. You might say that a complement is that digit needed (in addition to the one you have) to complete a ten.

For example: The complement of 9 is 1, because 9 + 1 is ten. The complementt of 8 is 2, because 8 + 2 is ten. The complement of 7 is 3, and the complement of 6 is 4, because 7 + 3 is ten and 6 + 4 is ten. Even in your sleep you would answer that the complement of 5 is 5.

Those are all the complements you ever have to remember in adding the longest column of figures. There are only five of them: five pairs, you will note, that add up to ten in the table of possible combinations.

Before learning how to add with complements, make doubly sure that you have the idea by looking at the following digits and giving their complements. Try to "read" the complement of each.
7 6 9 5 8

The way you add with complements takes a bit of getting used to. But it is one of the most fascinating and fruitful approaches known to short-cut arithmetic. You "add" two digits that total more than ten by subtracting the complement of the larger digit from the smaller digit and recording a ten.

In order to add 6 + 7, you subtract the complement of 7(3) from 6, and record a ten. 6 – 3 gives 3. The recorded ten makes it 13.

Or to add 8 + 4, you subtract the complement of 8 (2) from 4 and record a ten. 4 – 2 gives 2. The recorded ten makes it 12.

It is useful to subtract the complement of the larger digit rather than the complement of the smaller. In this way you cut in half the number of complements you have to remember at this stage – though the other half of the complements are really only the same pairs of digits that add up to ten turned around. Just as 2 is the complement of 8, so is 8 the complement of 2.

Try it yourself, before going any further. Add 7 9 by subtracting the complement of the larger digit from the smaller digit. The complement of The complement of 9 is – 7 – is -Remember to record a ten. So the answer is 16. I hope that is what you arrived at through the new method, even the first time. If not, then it hasn’t become clear yet. Another reading of the article is indicated.

Now add 3 + 8. Would you subtract the complement of 8 from 3? What is the complement of 8? Don’t forget to record a ten.

Strange and complex as this system undoubtedly seems at the moment, it is really far faster. This is because you are working with only the easier half of the forty-five digit combinations, the half that add up to less than ten.

Each time you use it, the system will become a little easier and more natural.

Add 6 + 5. The complement of 6 is – 5 minus – is – Record a ten.

As you incorporate this method into your life you will see what a difference it makes.

When you are in charge of a small school, it is important to do whatever you can to keep things running efficiently without spending a lot of money. You don’t want to have to pay more staff than you absolutely need because it can be hard to keep all the expenses within the budget you have to work with. One thing you can do to help the school run smoothly is get school administration software.

School management software comes from a number of different companies, and each software program has a different mix of components. If you do your research, you can find the best school administration software for your school. There is no need to pay for a lot of extra components you don’t need, but you also want to get software that includes all of the options you do need. You can get school administrative software that helps you with grading, attendance, course scheduling, producing transcripts and report cards, tracking discipline and attendance, producing the reports required by the government, tuition, lunch fees, and even busing. Some school management software programs even help with library cataloguing.

With school administrative software a little bit of time spent setting things up can make it much easier to keep track of and report on all the different aspects of school administration. This will make it so that teachers, administrators, and support staff have more time to focus on other more important things than paperwork. Grades can be entered into the system along with weights and the final grade will be calculated and input into the system without the teacher having to do a lot of typing or calculations. Using school management software, students can sign up for all the classes that they want and a scheduling portion of the program can figure out who takes what class when in order to limit conflicts in scheduling, or determine how many sections you need of a class and when the best time periods would be. Any conflicts will be highlighted so you can go back and fix them.

Using school administration software that is web based can also make it easier for parents to keep track of their children’s grades and attendance if you wish to allow this function. That might save some phone calls to and from teachers, and parents will like having the option to check up on how their kids are doing.

Doing an online bachelors degree would help you take advantage of the merits of doing business over the internet. Most online degree programs unite information skill and commerce classes. The required training one should have in order to enter the web field is a typical associate’s degree. However even a online bachelor degree in social science and life experience degrees are now accepted in certain fields.

Universities online have admission requirements, as any normal college and as applicable to which bachelor degree you are choosing to study. The basic requirements is a high school qualification or an equivalent GED certification, while most online degree programs asks one for a minimum of three or so years of related work knowledge as well as a degree which includes a 2.5 GPA or even higher in some cases.

Choosing the course for you would not be a task, as online bachelor degree programs takes an unlimited amount of students at a time. When you enroll for an online bachelor’s degree, make sure that you apply to various universities. One of the primary benefits in doing an online degree is that you can live in one city and study anywhere in the world. Self discipline would be a vital personality trait in this means of studying, as you would have to be disciplined enough in order to dedicate and find the time to spend enough hours in order to keep up with your assigned course. In the instance where you are not the self disciplined type, this would not be the type of studying for you, it would be recommended for you to adhere to the conventional way of learning.

Some of the advantages of doing an online bachelor degree;

1. The length of time it would take to do an online course would be less than the four year traditional degree course. In most cases you may complete a course in three years; this depending on your previous college credit, in some instances a course would be completed in less than eight months. Online English degrees can take longer. However you do have the advantage of a free online English oxford dictionary, with all the up to date words.

2. This course allows you the comfort of your home and allows you to take the class at any available time of any given day.

3. You may do the course at your own pace as long as the course is completed within the given time.

4. Tuition fees for an online degree is easy to pay, as you may apply for a student loan and in some instances there is a system in place that allows you to pay as you proceed in the course.

5. You can stay employed at your current job and this will at the same time assist in the payments of your tuition fees.

Should you be employed, you may ask your employer if they are willing to make a contribution as to the cost of your studies. In other instances, federal grants and student loan programs is available with low interest rates.

In this day and age more and more people are pursuing a bachelor’s degree online. Achieving an online education is an excellent way to getting the required bachelor’s degree that you would want to gain. Are they easier? No! However, the answer to are they more convient?

As a freshman college student, you’ve been waiting for that day on campus when your parents’ car pulls away and you can breathe that sigh of relief that you are free at last! But after the first few days of elation pass, some freshmen discover that adjusting to college life is a bit trickier than they thought. The practical stuff like how to do laundry, registering for classes and surviving dining hall food is pretty easy, but the mixed emotions come as a surprise. They are in uncharted emotional waters and they aren’t sure how to deal with the unexpected feelings of homesickness and insecurity that are new to them.

First, freshmen should understand that most college students have those moments when they realize that they have graduated from being a big fish in a small pond to being a small fish in a larger pond, and it can be intimidating. It’s perfectly normal; so don’t let the feeling overwhelm you. Acknowledge it and remind yourself of other times when you’ve faced what seemed like formidable odds and did just fine. It also helps to remind yourself that you aren’t competing against the other students. You are here to learn with them. They are your classmates, not the enemy.

College is your new home. You may not be able to go home and visit as often as you’d like, so take the time to make your dorm room seem "homey." If you didn’t bring photos with you, ask your family to send you some. Family photos are not only a nice touch for decorating your room, they’re great conversation starters. You’ll find that others miss their families, too, and sharing stories can relieve that burden and create a bond between friends. Buy inexpensive posters, tapestries and other decorative items. The more a room reflects your own personality, the more it will become a haven and refuge for you, just like your room at home. Soon it will become a small home-away-from home to you.

College offers tons of organizations and clubs; you’re guaranteed to find one that offers something you miss from back home. Did you sing in your church choir? Join a choral group or look for informal quartets that post notices in the music department. Do you have a passion for volunteer work? There will be many volunteer organizations on campus through fraternities, sororities and even various departments who are looking for new volunteers. There will also be cultural clubs that offer a taste of "back home" if you come from an ethnic region that you particularly miss.

Don’t allow homesickness or insecurity to stifle your sense of adventure at college. Your freshman year at college is the ideal time to try something new and exciting. Here is your chance to "reinvent yourself." Have you always dreamed of taking up fencing, but never had the opportunity? Now is the ideal time to join the Fencing Club and learn how! Imagine how surprised your friends back home in the 4H would be to see you with your rapier in hand! If you take the opportunity to try some new things and meet people you wouldn’t normally know you’ll soon realize that you’ve developed some amazing new friendships and that you’ve stopped worrying about adjusting and started to thrive.

With all these new adventures, it is important to manage your time wisely. It sounds like a cliche, but college is all about time management. After you’ve scheduled your classes, joined your clubs, decorated your room and made some new friends, invest in a calendar or take the time to use the one on your computer. Yes, you’ll want to do it all. But you won’t have the time or the energy or the brain cells. But if you plan ahead, you’ll learn how to plan you days so that you can pack in lots of class time and studying with plenty of time left over for fun and sleep, too, so that the college experience is a wonderful one. And you may even find time to call home once in a while.

Fun, educational school supplies are essential for children’s learning and development. Your child needs paper, pencils, crayons, paints, and arts and crafts supplies to explore his or her creativity, and playing games is a must. Educational games not only teach children letters, numbers and words, they also held improve their color recognition, hand-eye coordination, reflexes, and visual perception. Fun education school supplies stimulate lateral thinking, and the competition and social interaction helps develop kids’ communication skills, confidence and self-esteem.

When children play with fun educational school supplies, they learn how to take turns, cooperate, wait, share, and respect each other’s privacy. Games can build kids’ dexterity, concentration and attention span. Educational schools that are fun will make kids want to focus and succeed, and this develops their motivation and determination.

Here are some of our favorite fun educational school supplies for kids:

1. LEGO – LEGO is a classic children’s activity that offers many benefits to kids’ cognitive development. It can be bought cheaply online in bulk sized buckets of 500-1500 pieces. LEGO is good for kids’ minds and bodies: children develop muscles in their fingers and hands, and they learn about construction and design in the process. The system of interlocking blocks teaches kids about color matching and color coding, so it helps develop their problem solving skills.

2. Puzzles – Puzzles are important educational school supplies for children. They increase kids’ visual-spacial awareness and allow them to understand how parts can form a whole, and vice versa. Slotting pieces of the puzzle together develops children’s fine motor skills long before they are old enough to hold and use a pencil. Puzzles come in a range of different styles to cater for kids of different ages: there are chucky, wooden, sound, and peg puzzles for younger children, and classic cardboard puzzles featuring a range of designs for older kids.

3. Board games – These fun educational school supplies show kids how their luck can change in an instant: they can be ahead one minute, and behind another minute. A board game like Chutes and Ladders is a great example of this. Board games teach kids that there are rules they need to follow, and that rules should not be broken. Kids may need support when it comes to winning and losing – very young children often need an adult’s help to win in order to build their self-confidence, but older kids should be able to understand fair play and accept loss as a natural part of the game.

4. Music – Musical educational school supplies develop your children’s language and numeral skills just as much as math and English books. Research shows that kids who are exposed to musical training early on have better success in non-musical domains such as reading, writing, math and spatial reasoning. CDs of children’s songs, rhymes and chants are inexpensive; encourage kids to sing, dance and participate in music-making with hand drums, triangles, cymbals, egg shakers, maracas, harmonicas, and other instruments.

Why Vocational and Career Education Are Important

There are three major reasons why every school district should offer strong vocational learning opportunities:

1. Vocational competence is critical to the economic health of our nation.

2. A significant number of students, both college-bound and non-college-bound, are experiential learners who will learn academic skills best from developing them in a career or application context.

3. Delaying the career or application context until after grade 12 lowers motivation and learning achievement for many experiential learners.

Consider these characteristics of experiential learners:

1. They are often as or even more capable of complex learning than traditional learners.

2. They learn academic skills best from concrete tasks and a focus on real-life problems.

3. They often do not work to their potential in the relatively abstract-linear environment of traditional classes.

So, not having vocational or career learning options is a major disservice to the many experiential learners in any school population.

Advantages of Career and Vocational Education

When strong vocational learning options are available in a school district, they present these advantages:

1. They help many experiential learners reach higher achievement levels. (Too few policymakers have given adequate attention to a major weakness of American public education – - lack of inclusion of a strong application component in learning programs. Refer to the work of Dr. William Daggett, president of the International Center for Leadership in Education, for solid research comparisons in this area. The Center’s web site is www.LeaderEd.com.)

2. Career path exploration helps many students make more information and dedicated choices on college enrollment. Students often discover the career path they love and are more motivated to pursue college study.

3. Career context makes subjects and courses more meaningful to students. Application adds to the strength of learning.

4. The career context makes it more feasible to teach and promote a continuous improvement culture in relation to the real world of work.

5. Strong secondary school vocational programs provide workplace skills to some students who do not plan to attend college immediately after graduation from high school. They also equip many college-bound students with skills useful in part-time work that helps in financing college study.

Evaluating Your Local Situation

Do you want to evaluate the strength of your local vocational and career options for students? Look for positive responses to these standards:

1. The local school mission statement recognizes career/vocational education as a valuable service to many college-bound and non-college-bound students.

2. The career focus is placed on all levels of the K-12 programs – -

a. Elementary schools using career-focused stories, readings, field trips.

b. Middle schools providing strong technical (applied) literacy learning opportunities, especially to encourage continued interest in science. Also, providing after-school career exploration options perhaps with the help of local or area vocational centers.

c. High schools providing a broad spectrum of both career exploration and initial skill development on different career paths. NOTE: The number of vocational programs should be adequate to serve students with different talents and interests. There should be technical or science-focused programs, people-focused programs, and traditional trade programs.

d. High school guidance providing help on preference matching between talents and careers.

e. High school vocational programs presenting beneficial articulation with both 2-year and 4-year college programs to reject completely the error of viewing vocational courses as something only for the non-college-bound. That latter stereotype was founded on ignorance of the value of different talent or intelligence areas.

f. High schools providing strong information on and articulated access to apprentice training programs as a viable and important option for graduation.

3. Fiscal support and facilities are maintained on modern and attractive levels for both classical and vocational programs, never allowing one area to play second-fiddle to the other.

4. Local educators and government leaders are working to correct any state and national inattention to the needs and talents of experiential and vocational learners. NOTE: That inattention is evidenced by over-emphasis on written high stakes tests and concurrent outright failure to provide performance evaluation options for highly talented experiential learners under initial implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act. Reasons given for this serious failure are nothing but outright rationalizations to provide excuses for avoiding the work of constructing comprehensive assessment programs. Narrow written tests alone are an "easier" even though cognitively weak option. Can you imagine riding in an airplane with a pilot who has passed a written test but never before actually successfully flown an airplane? At some point in the future a higher quality assessment program must be pursued for the good of students and the good of our nation.

5. Local educators and government leaders work actively to ensure three other realities for quality vocational programs:

a. Secondary vocational programs being protected against misuse such as referral of a disproportionate share of learning disadvantaged students (who often need more effective basic academic programs) or misbehaving students (who can be dangerous to themselves and others in shop situations). NOTE: The mission of vocational schools involves career path selection and preparation. They are not special education schools but, like all schools, can serve their share of special education students. If over-used for the special education purpose, the primary mission is subverted and many talented experiential learners are tragically excluded.

b. Business and industry representatives being kept deeply involved as advisors to and evaluators of all secondary vocational programs. NOTE: This is the path to keeping programs relevant to evolving careers and to having businesses provide special help (internships, equipment, etc.) to an important source of future employees.

c. Secondary vocational programs being given strong annual funding for modernization of teaching youngsters to use equipment no longer used in the real world of work.

If the response to any one of the above basic standards is negative, you have identified an area where corrective action should be taken.

This is one of many articles on the resource web site http://www.SuccessInTeaching.info produced and maintained by Ronald Fitzgerald, D.Ed.

Grammar is one of the most essential things you should know when you learn to write proper English. It deals with the forms and structures of words and sentences. You should know the proper usage of such words. The best way to learn English grammar is not by using the dictionary but by using English grammar books.

It is best to learn English grammar in school wherein a teacher will really help you everyday but if you do not have the time and money, just make use of English grammar books. Aside from the fact that they are inexpensive compared to going to school, they are very reliable compared to the Internet.

First thing you should do is to choose the best book for you. Find the one that is easy for you to read and understand. You can ask for some help from the bookstore assistant. Do not just buy one book but buy a number of books since not all books have the same points. It is best to compare one with the other.

Second, make sure you really read and of course, understand the rules of writing proper English. Test yourself by writing several paragraphs and check the books you have bought for errors and correct them if there are any.

Ask some assistance from a friend who you know is good at English. Do not just let him correct your writing but ask him to explain as well. Try to understand everything he says, never hesitate to ask questions. Remember it is better to ask than to act as you know everything because you are the only one who benefits this.

Finally, try writing a whole article or essay and proofread everything. Make sure you are not bias with the checking of your work. Do the necessary corrections and write some comments. Read different articles and works of popular writers and understand them carefully. Learn from what they are doing and for sure, you will make a good writer.

English grammar books can really improve not only your English writing skills but your speaking skills as well. If you are good in writing, it does not necessarily mean that you are also good in speaking but you can be good at both if you are determined to be. By reading these books, you broaden your knowledge and you can make beautiful writings and eventually be a famous writer and a good speaker as well.

When you speak in your native tongue, the correct sentences seem to come right into you.

Reading a grammar book will help you to develop the intuition needed. Studying English is all about putting a good number of suitable sentences in your head. Your brain can then imitate them and produce similar English sentences to express the significance you are opting for. When you read and listen to English much, paying attention to English vocabulary, you will start soon to employ new words and expressions of English in your speech and writing.

If you ever followed English classes, you were probably invited to read a text and then to achieve a task related to it. The majority of the professors encourage students to read very quickly, to just obtain the precise force of the English text. You could think that this way your English will improve you, but you have other manners around.

Good writers not only rely on themselves, when it comes to write good copy, abstracts, documents, letters or even books. They rely on supportive tools, like advanced NLP grammar checkers.

Watch how innovative English grammar software instantly can improve your writings on a daily basis and learn how advanced NLP technology can help you to write better English than your English teacher. Applying to a B-school…is a great roller-coaster ride. "The sooner one learns to relax,… the sooner one can begin to enjoy it, and…do better justice to it." This quote may be found at: www.Businessweek.com, posted on Jan. 7, 2007 by Vivek Bhatnagar in the MBA Journals, "From India to Octopus’ Garden."

The above quote applies to all applications to online college degree programs, not just to business school applications. Below are some of the requirements for applying to online colleges.

Prerequisites

If you are interested in online education, there may be some prerequisites required for the online degree program you choose. The best way to find out if prerequisites are required and which ones are needed is to check the online admissions pages of the college. Prerequisites will vary.

If you are interested in an associate’s degree, you will need: * a high school diploma or its equivalent or * have a job, be at least 18 years old, and have Internet access. * For some majors, such as English and mathematics, you may need to pass basic competency English and mathematics tests or take prerequisite courses.

If you want to apply to a bachelor’s program, you will need: * a high school diploma or its equivalent * or an associate’s degree. * For some majors, such as English and mathematics, you may need to pass basic competency English and mathematics tests or take prerequisite courses.

To join a master’s program, you need: * a bachelor’s degree from a college that is, at minimum, regionally accredited * a 2.5 to 3.0 grade point average (GPA) * either the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).

For certification programs, you may need: * a job in the field of the certification.

(These facts may be found at: "Prerequisites for Enrolling in an Online College" by Vicky Phillips, Published on Wednesday, 9th of August, 2006 on: http://oedb.org/library and on: www.geteducated.com.)

The College Application

To apply to an online college, you will need to provide your high school diploma or equivalent, all college transcripts, results of any tests that are required, and, possibly, your birth certificate. You may have to take some of the tests mentioned above. The GRE tests verbal and quantitative skills: vocabulary, reading comprehension, and math, including statistics and algebra. The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is math free. It tests your ability to think comparatively, such as "Cat is to dog as kitten is to puppy." The MAT is often required by graduate schools in education, human resources, library science and the social sciences. The GMAT is often required by graduate schools in business or management. The GMAT does not test your knowledge of management or business. It tests verbal skills, mathematical knowledge (through calculus), and writing aptitude.

If the college you are interested in is accredited, it will accept course credit earned at other colleges. You will fill out paperwork and provide transcripts of the classes you have taken. Some online colleges give course credit for work experience; you may have to take a test to show how much you learned. Usually the application for an online college can be completed over the Internet. When you apply, you may meet with an advisor to help you in deciding which program to enroll in, how to apply for financial assistance, and answer your questions. Online colleges require access to the Internet. For that reason, the college may require you to have certain hardware and software programs. You may have to upgrade your computer to meet the requirements, for example, by purchasing more memory. Most online colleges require computers that are PCs rather than Apple Macintosh computers.

If you are applying to an online degree program, gather the needed documents, take any tests required, and fill out an application. Confer with an advisor. Check to make sure you have the required computer capabilities. Once your application is approved, you’re on your way!
